Hey, im considering to lengthen my Tibia with the SalamehFix (its external only).
I want to achieve 6.5-7cm. I am already like 177/178m tall and 19 years old.
But im not sure how much time I have to stay with the fixators. Considering i am young, healthy, strong and will do a good stretching and physio routine. Do you think this is possible?

Lengthening: 2.5-3 Months for 7cm.
Consolidation for  6 Months.
So I would get rid of the device in 8.5-9 Months. But most guys had to wear the device for 1 year and LONGER!
But I am not sure if i can stay more than 1 year in the device...


bonus question: How would you get the money if you are in my age? Take a loan from the bank? Im a student btw..

Hi lelouche
First, read more diaries especially about external only, since that is your interest.  However, I really do not recommend to do external only because it will take nearly forever to take off the device.  Plus, many patients seem to have difficulty in consolidation.  Anyway, it is your choice.

Outcomes seem in the average, the only downside is your looking to wear the thing for 10 months, and probably more for you goal.

I thought Salameh doesn’t allow to lengthen more than 5cm now
More than 5 cm without nails, higher risk of misalignment
To lengthen 7 cm tibia usually takes 4 to 5 months
After lengthening there should be a period for correcting alignment which can take more than a month without nails
Faster lengthening will produce severe equinus and non union more likely
Many people suffer excruciating pain with frames when doing stretch
Severe pain can limit the amount of rehabilitation time
There were severe knee contracture and equinus cases of Salameh patients reported in the past on the old forum
Some couldn’t return to work for more than 2 years
Better to expect 1 and half year to achieve full consolidation if lengthened that amount
The video of a girl dancing with Salameh frame is very misleading
Things will not be that easy with most of grown up guys

Plan things with the worst possible
Don’t plan with optimistic outlook

wow thank you. 1.5 years sounds too much. I might go for LON Femurs than (lon tibias is too risky because of permanent knee pain).
Have you more information about old Salamehfix diary on old forum? i wasnt a member of it

They went to the US doctors to have extra surgeries to fix their severe contractures
Imagine how much extra they had to spend to fix problems and the years they lost to recover

LON femurs with which doctors?
Decent doctors will never use external frames for cosmetic femurs lengthening
Those doctors doing External femurs for cosmetics are really bad choice
Russia, Armenia, Serbia, Turkey, India etc
They are the worst choices with very high complication rate
Drop foot, Nerve damage, misalignments, bent bones, non unions etc
Some got PTSD after prolonged excruciating torturous pains
There are just too many horrifying stories with them
Monorail is indeed the worst possible frame
Maybe less pain but due to its structure, it can easily get misalignment
If you look at the recent post of X-rays of monorail LON femurs, apparently bones are bent, nails were inserted thru knee to femurs
Even if the cost were 1000USD, not worth paying
It’s gonna be like buying complications, then you’ll get very long and deep scars for free

I recall from the old forum, he was doing a bit of Betz case, allowing people to lengthen ridiculous amounts.
Now puts a limit of max 5 cm, and seems to reduce the length of the treatment and complications.

I have a friend who done femur and tibias with LON and he didnt had much complications.

My only options are Salamefix in Germany, because I live here so my friends/family can help me, or Lon method (probably femur) in Turkey because I have a lot of friends there so i can stay there and i wouldnt be alone the time spending there.

But if walking DURING lengthening with salamefix is possible (i am strong/good amount of muscles) this might be the way to go.
