Hi everyone I’m thinking of getting the Limb Lengthening Surgery done. I’m 18 years old Right now. My height is 5 ft 2 (157cm) with out shoes on. Want to gain 5-6 inches (11cm-12cm) if that’s possible. Willing to do surgery on both tibia and femur of both legs. Living in the UK. Wondering Which surgeon to get the surgery done with. Willing to spend about 80k as it’ll take me some time to save up the money. Could possibly have 100k by the age of 30. Most likely will have 50k hopefully by the age of 25. Going to work as a Chef in a Restaurant in London.Any suggestions on cheap good surgeons to get the surgery done with. Also are there any patients who have gained 5 or 6 inches through surgery?
If so Please let me know thanks!

Hi Gman23

5 inches in two segments are in theory possible. Perhaps you need to do it one by one to maximize the lengthening after at least more than 1 year of recovery from the first surgery.

You probably can do it sort of at the same time in Paley institute in US with 3-4 weeks gap between the two surgeries.  However, in this case you need to have Stryde nails for both surgeries which will cost over $200k.  If you choose Stryde nail, which I think is the best choice, you will need to think about much more budget.  Most of doctors will ask you about $100-80k for one segment.  Dr. Giotikas offers Stryde at lower price but he is less experienced than other top doctors.

The maximum lengthening is 8 cm with Stryde for both femurs and tibias.  8cm of femur lengthening is relatively more achievable than 8cm of tibia lengthening.  For tibia, 5-7cm is a general range of gaining with Stryde, which most of femur patients can achieve 7-8 cm.  If your budget is tight, you can consider LON for tibias, which costs much less than Stryde but as effective at lengthening as Stryde.  However, any external device is quite painful and leaves much more scars than internal nails.  I don't recommend the external method for femurs.  If you want to lengthen femurs, just do Stryde and choose a good doctor for you.

Good luck!!

Thanks alott !!

That was really helpful now I’m really thinking of just saving up as much money as I can. As it is my legs here I rather have good legs then be crippled for the rest of my life. Dr Paley is prob the best option. I’ll see what I can do thanks !

i wonder if it is reasonable to aim for stryde. why spend so many years of your life to save up so much money when you can just endure externals instead - maybe cross lengthening? to have to save for 7 years sounds crazy, why not save for 2 or 3 and enjoy the rest 4 years with the result

Your right it could actually take longer then 7 years aswell. I’m interested in your idea could you possibly tell me more about it. Also which surgeon who be best to do the surgery with as the better the surgeon the more cost it would be. Also what’s cross lengthening?  Thanks for your advice btw I’ll think about it.

Thanks have you got any good suggestions for the surgeon I should do it with. I have a tight budget and am willing to spend about 60-70k max and that’ll take me few years Aswell. So like you said I should do externals on tibias and stryde on the femurs so how much do you think it’ll cost me in Total with a cheap good surgeon that is. Please let me know thank you !

i hav read good things about dr kulesh/dr solomin in russia - a bit of a scary place but cheap moustly because not everyone knows english. they charge around 22k total for 10 cm lol, so that is very affordable. cross lengthenging is when you  do one femur on one leg and at same time one tibia on the other leg, that way you can do externals on both (for the cheap price of 22k) legs, which is better than doing for example

externals on both tibia
then externals on both femur

as it is very very painful and uncomfortable to do both femurs at once

so by corss lengthening you can do it half at a time, but you need a big gap of a few months before the other surgery where you switch it, which is a drawback but once again it is really damn cheap

find the kulesh thread there is good info there

so my advice is that you save up around 22-30k and then head to russia and just get 5 cm at the first time, then with a few months pause, 5 cm more later. in total for 22k and you have more money in case you need stuff done.
