Anyone know about of technologies that may be available in the future that could prove to be viable options for short people?

Can you imagine... Very soon people will probably be able to sit in their chairs at work and walk around normally with little to no pain while they undergo CLL... They will simply "grow" 3+ inches.  Heck, the new Precise 3.0 may even be doing that now. I just haven't had enough updates on this new device, yet.   I love the study of science and medicine.

And they'll be able to play football, rugby and box too while they're lengthening lol!!  I'm sorry to disappoint, but I think you might be wrong. The main difference between the current/newer generation of nails  is that the extending of the device is done electronically/magnetically, as opposed to mechanically with the older/first generation internal nails like the Bliskunov (the one I had). The nail does not miraculously grow new bone for you. You still have to do that with good diet, exercise, therapy etc. The worst thing you can do during your growing phase is sit on your arse all day!

There is also a big difference between walking when you have a tiny gap of say a few mm between your broken bones at the start of your lengthening phase and a 3 inch (7-8cm) gap towards the end.  I speak from experience, your balance is the first thing that goes and it doesn't matter how good the nail is, it's only held in place by a few screws. You won't feel steady on your feet while you have a big gap between your bones with only soft callous formation.

Of course I don't mind being proven wrong, so people that have these nails inside are welcome to post videos showing walking ability at the advanced stages of the lengthening phase.

For the record, I ditched the crutches around 8 months from the initial surgery, but I still didn't feel 100% so I felt safer with a cane for an extra couple of months. I lengthened a fair bit don't forget. Those with less gains might accomplish things sooner.

Ha ha. I can see what you mean.  I was thinking of going for 8cm or 3inches and it would be amazing to ditch crutches by 6 months post op.
