Duration for external femur
« on: January 14, 2018, 01:46:30 PM »

Hello everyone, I am currently a university student and next month I will withdraw from University for 1 one year for the surgery. What do you think will 11 month be enough for being able to walk normally and continue my education after external femur lengthening? (6,5 cm)

External femurs is disastrous and barbaric.
No respectable doctor does it.

If you don't have money do external tibias otherwise do internal femurs.
Anything else is for idiots.

I don't have enough money for internat femur and my tibia length is long now.  I can't describe how my tibia will look so longer even after surgery +lifts. There is no way for me really

No, with  dr Fahri Teymurhanli. Prices that Muharrem inan offers is reasonable for local people(turkish), not for me)

By the way, my femur length is 44 and  tibia length is 36,5.  Extra 6,5 cm on tibia+ 2 cm insole may make me look ugly
P.S My height is around 162,5 in the afternoon (163 in the morning)

11 months you should be walking normal but probly not full weight bearing. Id suggest doing 1 femur at a time along with LON. 65mm can be reached in about 65 days or less. Once done with 1 femur you can lock the nail, remove the fixator and start on the next femur. Please dont let any doctor convince you that doing 2 external femurs at the same time is ok! 1 at a time is hard enough.Im currently doing cross lengthening with dr kulesh and i just reached 3.5cm and ive been lengthening for about 35 days. I can be honest with you external femur is not the easiest but its managable. The first 2-3 weeks are gonna be extremely tough not because of the pain but the discomfort of the frame and not being able to sleep comfortable. I was only sleeping max 2 hours before i would have to wake up and stretch and finally go back to sleep. Overdozer managed to do 7.5cm on his femurs externally but me personlly i think i would only be able to reach 5cm tops just because im really tired of wearing the fixator although im only shooting for 4cm maybe 4.5cm. I already have my set date in a couple weeks to remove my fixator so well see how much more i can achieve by then.

But my doctor says that there is risk of nail infection in LON  method. Frame my doctor uses doesn't have back side( like dr.bagirov's frame), looks compact. But pain level will surely be higher. As you said,  wearing external frames for more than 9 month can also be very tough. And infection rate of LON is also a big problem. I am not sure what to do now. Lengthening one leg and then the other one also take long time
