friends, need your expert input on Xia vs Brinov vs Parihar for external tibia lengthening and Birkholtz vs Parihar vs Mahboubian for internal femur lengthening (from reputation, cost, complication history point of view). feel free to recommend other sugerons (maximum I can spend is $55-$58k for internal femur and $15-$22k for external tibia. All included - meds, surgery, pins, rods, hospital/hotel stay etc.). Thank you so much. I have been saving from last 3 years for this and now have enough on hand to dream of doing both and need your advice/help and support. I will pay back to this forum by posting my experiences, my diaries in detail with picture..I promise you that. Note - I am not doing it right away, will do it in approx next 1 year. Thanks.

Update : I believe Xia has retired and Li has taken over.

as far as less inexpensive internal femur LL is concerned, its more of a question of Bizkholtz vs Parithar. Mahboubian internal femurs is not really cheap at all, he will pretty much cost you close to if not the same as the "high end" docs. I am personally very interested in Parithar with precice 2, Penguin seemed to have had a good experience with him. Bizholtz seems to be competent as well but it seems there is not much documented experiences on him.

But in all honestly I have not done much research on either doctor.

Hi,as regarding Mahbouhian,he seems to be a controversial doctor, there are several threads on him in the forum so do your research before going with this doctor.
Birkholtz has an account here on the forum and some interesting Faq&answer, check it out and you could also contact him.
Both moderators,Kilokhan and Penguinn, had good experiences with Parihar so you could make question to them reading also their diaries.

Thanks Zeo, agree on all your points - though Mahboubian is cheaper than the likes of Paley/Betz he is not as cheap as Parihar or Birkholtz. I also wish some diaries on Birkholtz comes up. I am an Indian citizen (work and live in US) so on one hand I will be comfortable with the setting/language etc. there on the other hand I know that if anything goes wrong in India you will be at Doctor's mercy (e.g. doctors are not as afraid of lawsuits as in US - so less compulsion on not to screw up a surgery - not to say they are not skilled - they are equally skilled but the compulsion not to screw up is less. Also, food adulteration is an issue - last thing I want is to had upset stomach with my legs broken). Not sure about the culture in south africa - I see capetown, Johannesburg etc and looks like nice first world cities (also huge indian expats) but one professor told me of his experience there (an HIV addict begger on road tried to inflict/scratch him - it seems a lot of hiv positives and some of them who are street dwellers - attack random people to have more population of hiv positives to have sex partners) and I got freaked out. Anyway, lets keep researching and supporting/informing each other. Thanks again.
