Questions about ballerina
« on: August 28, 2017, 10:01:08 AM »

Hey guys,

Hope you all doing well. I'm a monorail LON patient who is just about 4.4 cm's at the distraction phase. I'm a bit concerned about the famous ballerina feet. I surely know what it is but I can't be sure whether I have it or not. So I got two questions:

1. Can you tell me a way to understand whether I got ballerina or not ?

2. I'm planning to go for 7cm. If I have some ballerina, can I reduce it with physio after frame removal because I don't want get to have ATL with the removal as I read your bad experiences about it.

Thank you so much.

0) Please always state whether you are doing tibia or femur. I know it's tibia, but less experienced users might not ;-)

1) Your tendons are not stretching fast enough compared to the rate you lengthen. It forces the front of your feet down and it becomes difficult for you to stand with your heels on the ground. If it becomes worse, you will have to stand on your toes like a ballerina, hence the name.

2) Walk, walk and walk! And 7cm on tibia is dangerous. Depending on how much ballerina you may already have, you should consider to stop lengthen at 6cm or even 5cm.
But you should go to your doctor first. Only he knows you well enough to estimate how much your body can still take before even walking won't help anymore. Then it's compression or ATL.

I did 7cm on tibia in January 2013 and it was bad. It doesn't look good and my ballerina was terrible.

Even today my ankles are very tight and I have x-legs from the short muscles I got from lengthening.

I was recently at a thorough checkup and my X-legs are caused if short muscles. 4 degrees on left leg and 0,5 degrees on the right leg.
This put a very harsh strain on my ligaments and tendons on the inside of my knees so it aches pretty much all the time.

Don't pass 5cm on tibia. You'll be sorry as hell.

Are you still considering femurs? If you did 4cm on tibia, do you think you would be fine by now ?

I did 7cm on tibias January 2013.

It's devastating. Don't pass 5cm on tibias.

Yes, I'm still considering 4cm on femurs.
