Big toe doesn't work
« on: July 26, 2017, 11:19:54 AM »

Hey guys,

It is my 16'th day after the surgery. I've had LON at Istanbul. I'm at 11 milimeters at the moment.

Since the first day after the surgery I can't pull my left big toe to air even though I can push it towards the ground. By the way there is nothing wrong with my right big toe I can pull it and push it.

Even I do not have any loss of sense on both of my feet I'm a bit worried about it.

Did anyone experience a similar occasion ?

This is nerve damage, the solution is either slowing the lengthening and hope it goes away or stopping it altogether. At this point it is most likely neuropraxia which means the nerve will heal itself with time; however the motor findings that you are finding is a hallux paresia which if it gets worse can make you unable to dorsiflex your feet and cause problems with walking.
The most worrying aspect is that you got it immediately after surgery which means it is not due to the lengthening but rather a lesion caused during surgery by your doctor.

In this case, I have no idea how to proceed.

if the Dr nicked/damaged a nerve   the nerve might not every fully recover.  Nerve damage unfortunately is not nearly as understood/treatable   as it should be

hopefully that changes soon

Is LON more susceptible to nerve damage during surgery? Or are external methods in general that way? Or are tibiae surgeris that way?

Hey guys, Sorry for the late response. Upmotion of my big toe (I guess it's called dorsiflexion) hasn't come yet. My doctor is Muharrem Inan at Turkey. He is calm about the problem. Also my parents are doctors and they also keep telling that's not a big deal and it will comeback.
