Muscle atrophy
« on: November 17, 2018, 05:45:53 PM »

Hello, could people please tell me. If you lengthen your tibias, does this generally cause muscle atrophy on your thighs??

So if you say lengthen just your tibias 6 cm using an external device, not LON, just external device with nothing else and not lengthen your femurs, will your thighs get thinner by losing muscle?

Does anyone know from experience??

Thanks

If you tibia lengthening external device is weight bearing and most of them are - and you walk as much as possible and as early as possible then you can limit the amount of thigh muscle atrophy.  The thigh muscle atrophy will be a result of being disabled and therefore inactive which is one of the reasons there is a push towards LL technologies that provide full weight.

there will be some atrophy but nothing to worry about. with exercises and therapy u can maintain that. however ur main concern should be the sliced bone and tibial muscles.

Thank you for these replies. As stupid as this will sound, I would absolutely love some muscle atrophy on my thighs. I would love to have thinner thighs with less muscle. Basically muscle atrophy on a woman's thighs must be most women's' dream come true. Women usually look better with thinner thighs. This sounds like a great bonus point of LL for women.

I wonder what I can to get more muscle atrophy on thighs without harming my recovery too much. Not sure what to do exactly. Maybe staying in bed more during recovery. But thank you for your replies.

It’s muscle atrophy, and that doesn’t include fat. So, if you not only don’t exercise, but have a poor diet, you’ll have fat, cellulite legs with no tone. I’m not sure how you think this is desirable...

Almost all men like toned thighs and butts. At any rate, please don’t just waste away and not exercise if you do LL. Firstly, this is poor practice for your legs as you need to be as active as possible. Exercise and walking and stretching promotes the tendon health during limb lengthening and recovery back to normal.

I agree with jcayabo muscle atrophy is nothing you should wish for.

The most important thing my physiotherapist taught me and try to help me with is working against the muscle atrophy through working out the upper leg muscles and the butt muscles.

Those are essential for walking.

Sarah123, this is a really bad idea.  I can't believe what I'm reading.  I suggest you do everything possible to recover as quickly as possible and not be concerned about getting slimmer thighs.  This can be achieved after you recover by a combination of diet, aerobic exercise and weight training for toning (low weight/high reps).  You could get the results you want within 6 months if you know what you are doing.  But make sure your bones have completely consolidated first.

atrophy after the bones have been sliced is a death sentence for legs.

Just wanted to say that if you want slimmer thighs, definitely go for internal femurs. Made my thighs so much leaner (were always beefy although i am slim). There are many other reasons to go for internal femurs btw (better gain, no ballerina, NO FRAMES). As a women I would never do ll at all though. The social and status benefits are just not worth it for females, unlesa you are really extremely short.

Thanks for this advice. I guess I was being stupid. I know I sound ridiculously naive at times. You’re right. Recovery is very important.
