Are there really any LEGIT doctors for this surgery?
« on: May 02, 2016, 06:28:11 AM »

Someone with a spotless record. I heard Paley and Guichet are the best and safest, but when you hear things like Paley being kicked out of his hospital in Baltimore or Guichet being forced to move his practice to another country, then articles like this: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/palm-beach/fl-doctor-dror-paley-20160318-story.html, and reviews like this: http://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Dror_Paley/reviews, it makes you question the legitimacy of these guys.

Of course this field is a bit out there, and the doctors who opt to perform cosmetic procedures like this have to have a questionable moral compass. If I'm going to spend over $100,000, take 5 months of out my life and possibly risk the ability to walk, I expect to have the best of the best taking care of me. Is there any doctor like that out there who doesn't practice in a 3rd world country,  operate in a shoddy complex in the bad side of town or have numerous complaints against them?

It will take longer than five months.  Aim for a year.

For internal femurs you also have that Dr in south Africa, also in Korea, as well as New York City, and Italy. I suggest going research on them

If you don't find Paley and Guichet good enough, you won't like anyone. They're the biggest names.

Just because they're the most marketed doctors does not mean their skill level is the highest.. Also, just because they charge the most, does not necessarily mean they provide the better service.

Except you know...it's been proven they do compared to other doctors..

Shyshy, Programdude, Yellow, Vitruous. DIFM is getting there too I'm confident in him...

I've seen good recoveries from other doctors no doubt. But if I had to bet my entire life on any doctor when it comes to my legs, it'd probably be one of those 2... Experience, they heavily work with the manufacturing of their respected nails, and more importantly, they have a lot to lose if something terrible happens...

To your point though, I should have said: "they do better compared to other doctors..."

The handful of diaries here do not represent all LL patients. Also, if you research those two doctors outside of this forum, you'll find out that they aren't really the best overall. A doctors experience is important but is irrelevant if he doesn't have a good heart or intentions. Also the G Nail personally doesn't seem advanced especially the clicking you have to do. Seems very outdated.

Can you please send us some links on what kind of "research outside of this forum" you're talking about that leads you to believe they aren't one of the best? Also, I'm guessing your suggestion that these two doctors don't have good hearts/intentions means you have met them before or have some solid proof on that? And the G nail "personally" doesn't seem advanced to you? Which method do you feel is more advanced?

Cosmetic LL is a shady practice for shady surgeons and it corrupts doctors but some doctors are worse than others. Monegal and Betz have a very bad reputation in this forum (liars and dishonest doctors). They don't have a good heart. They fish patients and then don't care about the issues they cause them or deceive them if they are stupid enough to believe them.

It really amuses me how people in this forum would go and spead 100 000$ to have their legs broken just because they think if they go with a more famous doctor that charges more money, it will be more likely for them to return to 100% of their outstanding athletic abiliteis and potentially challange Usain Bolt on the olympics and Leo Messi in the Champions League ....

The reality is that there are many anonymous doctors out there who will do just as good a job and will get you the same results in less than 20 000$. And the reality is that you will never be as before.

When I was in study abroad to the US I paid once 150 for a routine blood exam, something that in Europe would cost 30-40 euro. Do you think there will be a difference in execution that would justify the 300% difference in price ? If you think go ahead and visit Paley, then you will be competitive for the olympics hahahaha

That is not true
High experienced surgeon cost more money than the less one.The price is upon there skill
you can not compare to regular procedure like blood test or vaccine ,they have reason to be expensive relate with there costs(rent, labor, etc)
But it is better to find some good surgeon with more reasonable price
100000 us is too much

Read Cooper's diary. He didnt went to Paley again because he wanted to save money and when he went to Monegal in Spain to do tibias he took one of the worst decisions in his life. His own words

I agree but it is impossible. Well, it depends how you define a good doctor. For some people here only GUichet and Paley are good enough.

The only reason I had the courage to actually break my legs and go through with this sh*t was because I knew and was fully confident in the caliber of Dr. Guichet's expertise. I'm sure I'd have felt similarly with Paley and/or Rozbruch. Of course, things can go wrong with any doctor...but when it comes to your legs, money should be no object.

Out of all the things to worry about with CLL, the "morality" of the doctor should be at the bottom of the list.

Research other cosmetic surgeries, all the doctors operate that way.

Advertising for breast enlargement plays on insecurity over having small tits, breast reduction surgery plays on the insecurity of having too large of tits. CLL plays on the insecurity of being short, and the docs try to make money on it.

Nothing wrong with that. Money drives advancements, which benefits guys in the future.

Pick your method, pick the skill level and doctor you can afford. Really is that easy. Just don't let money force you into a doc you know is no good.

That south African doc has good results and is only like what, $50-$60 thousand? That's cheap. (fooling yourself if you think that's a lot of money)

External tibs with Catagni is cheaper still, and he's a good doc.

My pick would likely be Guichet, Mahboubian, and then Paley, in that order, because they all do the method I would pick, have the skill level I want, and i can afford them. Why would I pick less experience to save money?

And with the possible exception of Mahboubian, none of them market very aggressively compared to other cosmetic surgeries and surgeons.

When I had my daughter treated for melanoma, we went with the best surgeon in the USA. She still made a "mistake" that resulted in another surgery...just the way it goes.

Yes, thanks for asking.   :)

We're treating her scars now. (face, neck, scalp)  So we ended up at a plastic surgeon that does a ton of other cosmetic surgeries.

It was quite an eye opener, this whole cosmetic surgery business.
