Who are the ideal candidates for cosmetic limb lengthening?
« on: October 25, 2014, 03:33:55 PM »

There are two camps post limb lengthening - those who think CLL is the best thing they've ever done and those who regret ever getting the procedure. The ones happy with it might even recommend other short folks online to get lengthened, whereas the ones unhappy with it will completely discourage anyone from even considering CLL. It's not always easy to tell who the happy and unhappy ones will be - I thought Leechlet would be one of the pro-CLL people after his operation yet it turns out he regrets getting it, for example.

So what are the factors that will ultimately lead a patient to be for or against cosmetic lengthening? What kind of patients do you think will get the most benefit and have the most favorable outlook on their decision to get lengthened? At the same time, what kind of patients do you think will end up regretting their decision most?

Speaking from experience, I have always faced heightism since the age of 5 from relatives, peers, school teachers, strangers. I have been called all the names associated with being short. Now that I'm 7-7.5cm taller, I am extremely pleased with the successful outcome.
I strongly believe that people who are objectively short will most likely be happy with successful LL outcome because they are doing LL to escape the daily discrimination. As for Leechlet, even though he was objectively short, I think he jumped straight into LL (I think it was due to a recent rejection) without fully understanding the entire process and also not having the proper mindset for the tedious and strenuous procedure. He simply wasn't ready for LL.
Average and taller people with severe height neurosis would also be ideal candidates because they would reach 6ft+ with one or two procedures and we all know the social benefits of being that height. But personally, if I was 175+cm I would never consider LL because I don't think it's really worth the risk, health, time and money at that height. I would invest my resources elsewhere.
Anyways, the best candidates for this procedure are physically and mentally healthy individuals who face daily external discrimination due to their height and/or have very severe height neurosis that prevent them from living a normal life. They must also understand whether height is truly the issue in their daily life because LL will not completely change them into a new person but only build self confidence.
Finally, people who do LL for others, expect LL to be a walk in the park, not aware of the short/long term consequences and risks, impatient, not have funds for possible contingencies, have insufficient time and/or have unrealistic post LL expectations would not be ideal candidates. These are the ones who are most likely to regret LL!

leechlet had a weak mind and a massive ego. he realized that he could pretend to be an intellectual elite if he ridiculed LL and acted like he gained some magical insight from personal experience on social factors related to peer pressure and society.  his ego is related solely to the fact that he thinks he is a genius.

I strongly suspect that this "intellectual ego"(its in quotation marks because he is not a genius he only thinks he is) came from his family who are apparently rich and some corporation. they probably over time coerced him into hatting his decision. I believe that the people you have around you will strongly determine how you view LL, this is because LL weakens the mind and you are most susceptible to influence during this journey. it is when you are most vulnerable that you will be most likely to be influenced by those around you. when doing LL surround yourself with positive people who understand the psychological reasons for LL and not people who just think you have mental issues.

well it depend from person to person,
sometime, you find some LL fighters who had lot  of complications, but they still consider another LL surgery " I do consider another LL maybe 3 or 4 yrs from now  ::) "
while other, their LL journey was very smooth but they wish they never had it.

Are there any physical indications? So I can get a better idea how my body will manage the trauma and recovery.
