Is it possible to reuse internal nails in another segment?

Does any body know whether it is possible to reuse internal nails in another segment ?
To remove them from femurs and then insert them in tibias or vice versa?

It is possible but no doctor will do it because they correctly say that it a nail that has already been used has a higher chance of mechanical failure than an unused one.
