Russian Scientists Create Laser for Cutting Bones
« on: March 17, 2015, 08:36:17 PM »

Might be of interest. Read: http://sputniknews.com/science/20150317/1019614459.html

Could this be used on future CLL patients? If so, do we see any benefits from this?
Looks like this is going to available very soon.

That does look really cool. No idea if that's something Ilizarov surgeons are going to choose to implement in their surgeries, though.

the gigli saw is not used because of the friction damaging bone cells at the cut, this causes slow bone callous formation.

I think this lazer will have the same effect.

Unless the equipment cuts bones better than whatever medical hammer and chisel is used right now, I imagine if any doctors switched over the added cost would be passed onto future patients.
