Does anyone hear of these? My doc intends to get me on external fixators in-and-out in about 4-5 months, for 5 cm, if I pass my evaluation.  He's confident with these I can heal much faster, and especially I am a professional basketball player, I need to heal fast.

He says the internal devices cause all sorts of problems which he is sick of hearing about, so he prefers externals only for better safety. The nails seem to break at an "unacceptable rate" and he will only do internals if it is done one-leg-at-a-time, or in trauma cases where only one leg is injured.
