3 cm femur, what is the fastest way to complete and do sports?
« on: January 24, 2015, 10:16:29 AM »

That's my question.

Externals are fine right? For small amounts? What would be the time-frame? For removing of frames, and then sports?

Internals, how long would they take? Thanks guys.

For just 3 cm. is internals still better?

4 months for frame removal and 6 for sports. And no, bilateral external femurs are still not fine, too much discomfort.

Not really. Any misalignment can be corrected by the Ilizarov external device.

they say the muscle will bend the pins?? idk
but either way 3-4 cm, i dont think theres too much muscle movement..
but i heard from Russian girl that the pain is 9/10. the tibia pain is only 1/10. She did one femur and two tibia (one femur for correction purposes)

Pins will bend under weight to some extent. It's not unique to femurs.

Well, I did femur too and I've also been lengthening at a rate of 1.75mm/day and I can tell you that the pain wasn't 9/10. It was there mainly due to muscle tension, but it wasn't that bad.

Btw, if you wanted to do femurs on top of tibias, you probably should've done it x-lateral style, like 5 cm left femurr, 5 cm right tibia - repeat after 6-7 months.
