ok so I have an issue. knee bending occurring during tibia lengthening.

basically lengthening 0.5mm per day total. 3 times per day to achieve this.

I can straighten each leg out with some weights, however the device on my right leg is slightly higher up, this directs all the pressure to the knee, the left leg all the pressure of the weights is directed to the tibia segment.

perhaps its just normal to get knee pain and not due to placement of the device.

however each time I lengthen(3 times per day) I have to religiously stretch the leg till it becomes flat.

this is very painful. I wonder if it will become more painful later on.

does anyone have coping mechanisms to deal with the pain, or suggestions. I am not allowed any pain killers, not even nsaids.

also I cant let it get worse, because femur operation is soon after tibia. so ignoring it and allowing knee bend to get worse is not an option.

I guess the point of this post is just to talk with people who understand because it hurts a lot and I have no one to talk to about it. also it does not feel like a good pain, and it is only on the right knee, the left leg is fine. and only if I try to stretch.

I don't know much about knee pain but from what I understand it's more common when doing internals. A lot of patients have said their knee(s) hurt when lenghteing too fast so you might want to try slowing down -with your doctors allowance of course.

It's a painful surgery though, especially without painkillers, and yes you should prepare for it to get even worse.

its common.. ive to stretch a bit to get my right knee straight... but left leg is effortlessly straight.... always a tough one after i wake up and whole night it was bent....

gets worse as u lengthen more

just keep the legs straight... then it wont bend

I'd stack two pillows horizontally under the most distal ring of the frames to keep my legs straight for as long as I could to help with knee bending. I ended up with quite a bit of pain just below the knees which I still get after standing a while or moving around too much and my local ortho says it's due to muscle atrophy combined with the weight of the frames that causes pain in that location.

my pain is in the inside of the leg , well inside of the knee, where the 2 segments meet.

im fairly sure its because of bad placement of the device, all the pressure goes to my knee when I stretch, on the other leg its fine all the pressure just feels like im stretching, no pain.

I told the surgeon not to put it to close to the knee! im so annoyed. also the device is not completely straight like my other leg. I hope nothing serious happens. (yes all patients have 1 leg monorail straight, and it slightly sideways on the other leg). so it was deliberate.

I hope your knee pain gets better kilokahn, did your doctor tell you any ways to help fix the pain for you? or to just wait it out?
