Hello guys,

I'm planning to do LL in Russia. Since they have a 6-month limit for the visa, I'm wondering if it's possible to lengthen 4-5 CM externally within the 6 months?

Is it too risky?

if you do lon it will be more than enough time.

but I don't recommend lon.

With external-only you'd be leaving with the frames on, but finished lengthening.

I am staying longer in russia than 6 months and many other patients too. I dont see why you should not be able to stay longer.

It is too risky in my opinion. Dont forget that in theory it might be possible but I have not seen anyone without some kind of complication.There is a guy who did 4.5 or 5 cm and needs more than 6 months. He needs about 7 months, but he does external only.

People always forget that there must be extra time for correction! At least 2 months after lengthening. If you do LON it could be less than 2 months.

here longer than 6 months, as the Migration office has made its rules tougher."

I think sadly for Russia there is only 1 solution now days.

LON is not an option if you want to be safe from knee pain.

for Russia I think people can not do it in under 6 months. it takes 7 months as an average according to my doctor for full externals.

the only option left is to go there do full externals, after the lengthening phase then leave back to your home country for consolidation. then return for frame removal or get frames removed in your home country.

And you don't need any kind of doctor care or follow up after lengthening phase? What if there's a complication?

Rgkey stayed for almost a year. I stay longer because the immigration office said it is allright. And they said so to all the LL patients that are here. They will even give me a written confirmation letter that I am allowed to stay longer than 6 months so I dont have any problems when leaving the country. Dont worry about that. They will not throw you out of the country with the frame on!

Ok assuming you do the intake and interview in one day and have the procedure done within a few days. Then you need a week after that until you start lengthening.

5 1/2 months is a lot of time to lengthen 5 or 6 or even 7 cms for external tibs.

You should be able to do .667 mm per day. 60mm / .667 = 90 days of lengthening.

Mind you that you will have a consolidating phase to run though but if your lengthening went well you should be able to find a doctor who can monitor your healing progress outside Russia .

This would be my plan of action.
