Opioids/NSAIDs/None for pain mgt??
« on: January 07, 2015, 06:01:52 PM »

Are we stuck between a rock and a hard place?

Apparently studies show that opioids can inhibit bone healing.. same thing for NSAIDs (tho some studies say its fine)... studies are swinging to both extremes...

what do your doctors say?

Tramadol should not delay bone healing. Just take that in pill form.

As long as you get decent blood flow to the new area which is flooded with nutrients the bone will develop and heal.  Some faster than others though.   Exercise and food is what's needed for the bone.   Painkillers make you lethargic and lazy so you exercise less and that means less blood flow.  They make you eat less aswell so that's problem two.   If your struggle to eat then it's better to eat high calorie junk food than eat nothing at all but then you may need some new teeth like me.   Oh , those painkillers I'm sure effected my teeth with creating cavatys???? Not too clued up on it, may be wrong
