IF you get ballerina, can you still walk?
« on: December 19, 2014, 07:34:35 AM »

I do sometimes stand on my tip toes and find it ok?

IF I develop ballerina, can I still walk? how comfortable will it be? is it subjective? thanks!!

Reading crimsontide's diary is depressing, I think he is going into depression or he is already in clinical depression!

Lets hope he is all fine now.

Yeah, hope he is fine. The last thing I remember about him was his gf broke up with him, thus, his reason for going through limb lengthening.

Yeah, you can still walk with ballerina. Imaging tip-toe-ing. In fact, many people came back home with ballerina, especially those who were lazy stretching. I wouldn't count on it. You should try to keep your ballerina low as much as possible through rigorous calf muscle stretching.

Hey Small guy:

If we are able to put weight on the leg to exercise it, will it eliminate the ballerina if we are vigilant about it and our physio therapy as well ?

Yes, while lengthening the tibias, I was told by my PT, MODH, in india to put weights on my knee in a sitting position to stretch out the calf muscle for at least 15 mins per day. Moreover, my PT also came by once or twice per day to exercise with us. For all his effort, I also gave him my laptop before I left.

But the best vigilant is stretch thoroughly before you undergo limb lengthening. If you can do a complete split, be able to stretch forward with your legs straight so that your chest touches your legs, and can stretch your calf so that your feet is less than 45 degrees from your legs, only then, you are flexible enough for LL. Otherwise, you'll have to make up your stretching while you're there and perhaps have ballerina by the end of the lengthening procedure, which is no big deal. But it just means that you'll be walking home tip-toeing.

it's my life... will you be quiet about me already

look.... trust me... if you get ballerina, you mighjt not be able to really walk.... thin about it... your legs will be weakened with frames on, and you will be on your toes... walking is not so easy in this condition...

your issues regarding medications in russia,etc... well,   you knew that beforehand... you read my diary

if the ballerina doesnt get better, then you will need surgery... my calves were huge before i had the surgery, and big tight calves are known  to be a hindrance

either way, if it resolves itself or not, it's a problem that can  be fixed

im ok... just need to go to gym to get back in shape

i have slight sweling in left achilles... but that will be taken care of soon, and its caused no pain

my only complaint is my left foot, a very small part of my outside foot is numb... no pain, and doesnt hurt function at all, just a bit weird knowing its there, but im pretty sure its temporary anyway, though since it doesnt cause any pain, and doesnt harm function even a little...i guess its not a big deal

i can put both feet on the ground easily,no pain in legs, knees feel fine, etc

You can walk with a walker, maybe crutches if it's not so bad.  I doubt you'll be able to walk unaided until it goes away though.
