Feet lengthening
« on: November 21, 2014, 04:22:10 AM »

I have heard of toe lengthening, however, I was wondering if feet lengthening was possible as well. Is it? My shoe size is 6.5 and everytime I go to the shoe store I get depressed, especially in Nike, Adidas, etc. were they mostly have 10 and up shoe sizes. If I am lucky I can find a 6.5 size. However, I have noticed that shoe sizes 7-8 are commonly used as well, and produced in big amounts too. You are more probably to find a 7 size rather than a 6.5. So my question is, can I lengthen my feet to be at least a shoe size of 7?

P.S.: I know that this doesn't belong to this category, but I do want a well elaborated response with sources and attention. If I do it on the general inquiries category I won't get as much attention as in here.

Thanks.

Your shoes are measured at the end of your toe so in essence yes. But why do you need a bigger foot? Ryan Reynolds is 6'2" and wears a U.S. 10 which is small for someone his height.

Why do you get depressed about how big shoes are? If this really is an issue for you maybe wear thicker socks so that you can fit comfortably inside a bigger shoe.

I think my feet are normal for my height so if I get taller they will probably be proportionally small but does it really matter, seriously does it have any implication in the real world?

My advice is just wear gel insoles. I had to start wearing them in all my shoes due to stress fractures in my feet and pretty much had to go up a shoe size to fit in shoes properly. Really don't think you should subject yourself to any type of legnthening in the feet(if it even exists).

I get depressed because I don't find shoes on my size. And it has ntohing to do with the height-feet proportion thing. You can easily find good shoes in a size 10, but in a small size + a half size, it is almost impossible to find shoes your size, especially when modt shoe factories consider size 6 as a kids size. It is pathetic and insulting. I have always wanted fo buy some Geobaskets or at least Radiis but the minimu mshoe size they sell is 8.

does any lengthening exist for the hand? mine is really narrow and kinda short, this is definitely more important than feet imo

I believe it would be better to increase your height first, since height is more noticable than feet, at least when people glance or look at you. After becoming taller, then you could think about your feet. What do you think OP?

I have the opposite problem. I wanted to buy some bugarri elevator shoes and was frustrated when they didn't have my shoe size because all the sizes they carry are quite a bit smaller than what I need. I guess most buyers of elevator shoes are shorter than 179CM.

But, I don't think that foot size and height are necessarily always proportional. I have a 166CM friend with even bigger feet and hands than me. His armspan is 178CM. It's crazy.

No surgeon is going to lengthen your feet for cosmetic reasons. Look at all the parts that are involved.

Distraction osteogenesis can be applied to any bone. The only problem is finding a doctor willing to do it.

There are just so many bones in the feet involved. It would be extremely difficult, and for what?

If you care about this enough, feet and hands have been reported to grow with the use of growth hormone, insulin, and IGF-1. They can continue to grow in size in response to hormone stimulus because they don't really 'fuse' like long bones (such as the femurs, tibias, etc) do. Perhaps if you were willing to inject yourself with large doses of somatropin, IGF-1, and insulin, your dreams could possibly come true. But would it be worth it? No.

I've thought about that. What scares me off it is I don't know a thing about what HGH dosage would get those effects without endangering my health... I've heard horror stories on the internet about liver and kidney failure due to HGH
