The doctor directory is pretty large. Question is has the knowledge of their existence made you consider any doctors that weren't known by the online CLL community or are you still planning to go to the small group of docs that have been popular for CLL online?

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

From what I see those top doctors are top advertisers, u pay 40% more than u should just because they make u think u will fail with any other doctor.

do u really think ilizarov if he was alive today would charge as much as paley/Guichet?

I see some doctors that look good that I did not know of before so yes. Plus some are lot cheaper than ones listed on other site.

Dr.Birkholtz would've gone under the radar and I would have done my femur LL with one of the popular doctors if it wasn't for this site. Africa would have been one of the last places I'd imagine to have LL done lol. But I'm glad that this site exists to let people know that there are doctors from all corners of the world that can safely perform LL and allow members to freely discuss their competence on their page. I'm also planning to do my tibias with one of the doctors listed in this site but outside the typical popular doctors.

Dr Parihar is another example I think, Im considering him very likely atm and once I have enough for two surgeries I'll probably go with him.
Regarding Dr Birkholtz and South Africa, I think the same can be said with the Indian doctors and India in general. This forum has definitely changed my mind regarding Indian doctors which was a tough ask considering what happened in the old forum

A big thank you needs to go to Kilokahn for his very detailed diary

It is supply and demand plus overhead costs. Overhead costs in developed countries, where all the "popular" doctors are, is much more than in developing or semi-developed nations due to regulations, etc. Also, the demand for popular doctors is much higher than for other doctors due to their expertise, so that adds to the cost. Adding those two factors together gives you a high price.
