How much money to keep aside?
« on: October 09, 2014, 08:46:14 PM »

If you're a young guy, and have just worked for a year or so, and all your savings are *just* going to be enough to get the surgery+PT+stay. Is it wise to go ahead in such a situation?

For example, if you were to go with Guichet and had $80k. Is it okay? Or what percent of your savings is it safe to spend on LL?

As for me, after LL if I'm quite recovered, I'll find another job, and get back to life. I might need about ~$5k to make sure I can manage to exist until I earn enough to supplement myself. Until then I can depend on my parents for a bit.

You are making a mistake if you want to lenghten femurs. Internal femur lengthening has been hyped so much that somehow everybody wants to do this. External tibia lengthening is much cheaper and at the same time less risky.
Internals are being hyped because there is a lot of money to be made.

Well external femurs are awesome, but for the fact that you'll have to wear those frames for 8-9 months.

Life can get tricky if people find out you got LL (if you're trying to hide it). It isn't easy to stay in Russia for 8 months until your frames are off. LL is cool, but it shouldn't mess up what you already have. I don't want to go back home after 8 months, with all my friends having forgotten me, all my social skills gone being alone in Russia. It might go well, but I think I'll have a hard time spending so much time there.

I wouldn't worry about losing social skills as they improve naturally while traveling.

You could probably get away with spending about $70,000-$75,000 for tibias or femurs with Dr. Guichet.

No, probably not.
Look at leechlet's video:
He spent about $94k. Which of those expenses would you save on?
