Putting back on leg size after surgery

Am I the only one who has seen some tibia patients appear to have big calves?

After surgery I am guessing for a majority of people heavy lifing will be off the table.

But for a lot of the leg machines it requires some degree of bend in the knee... so going into LL should one just assume the most they will ever be doing again is light cardio?
