What kind of wheelchair do you recommend to buy?

Im staying alone and Im absolutely sure Ill be needing it, especially to cook my meals

So do you recommend the ones with leg rest to the front? Electronic...

Takura,

I definitely recommend getting one that is a "recliner" also.  This way you can lay down 180 degrees and take naps without having to transfer to bed.

Full recliner or half?

I'm about to buy one tomorrow I hope they'd let me take it over the airplane too

The recliner ones do sound really good though to be honest. I feel really bad for not practicing wheel chairs and crutches before my lengthening since I feel I could have become a master at them

You will get good at the Wheelchair very quickly. Don't worry. Get a full 180 degree recliner.  This way, at the very beginning especially; you can sleep in your chair if you prefer.   Transferring is very painful for first few days. Also, during the day;   you may want to take a nap and you will prefer to stay in chair and not move to bed.

How tall are you? I recommend getting a walker. If you are 5'5" or under, get a Jr. Walker, so it is smaller.   If you are over 5'5" you can get standard walker.  This way it will fit you better and you can use the walker to aide you in rising up from sitting position.

I'm 1.8metres tall. My doctor said he will provide me a walker although I'm not sure about its quality. Wheelchair is my first line of option, then crutches, then walker - although Im not very informed on this stuff. Dr. Solomin and Kulesh recommend crutches and I know wheelchairs are used more in China but this is a little under discussed part in the LL community.

Regarding your earlier post, Im really worried now. I was having some dental work that got delayed and now I'll be needing to see the dentist 3 days after my surgery and it's not in a wheelchair friendly place so I arranged for someone to literally carry me in their arms to the place and land me on the operating table of the dentist. Is this even feasible at all?

Hi Takura,

There is a possibility that you will be fine with crutches and then someone can help lift you.  For me; I was having a lot of pain from surgery, especially in my left leg; so it was hard for me to make movements.

Hey, why don’t you show the dentist earlier? You would probably just want to be resting 3rd day. Also are you doing stryde, precise, external..?
