Officially booked and paid for my LL in Sydney, Australia!

yep, i'm in Australia too, just curious how are you doing it in Australia? I thought we couldn't do it here and that we had to go to another country to do it

Seconded, it would be fantastic if CLL was available in Australia. Please let us know in your update who you're going with and how it went.

Yeah it'd be amazing, hopefully account5000 returns at some point and can update us. Even if it does become possible to do it in Australia in the next 2-4 years though (when I'm planning to get LL), I'm worried about Australian surgeons not having as much CLL experience as America/Europe etc., but we can follow account5000's journey of doing it in Australia at least.

Fingers crossed for their return. I actually didn't realise how long it's been since OP posted until after hitting send on my reply.

Yeah, I likely won't get to LLS earlier than your goal as well. I've only been able to find 1 Aussie surgeon who sounds decent but according to his website, he no longer does CLL. Currently seeing if there are any updates about that. If it looks like CLL is back on the table, I'll post here. For reference, the surgeon is Dr Tim O'Carrigan, officially in leg reconstruction but he also has (at least some) experience in CLL.

I see, yeah I remember seeing that thread about him in the past but it didn’t end up going anywhere in the end. Yeah, to be honest I’m not even certain I’ll be getting it in the next few years, I’m just a uni student so it’s more of a dream right now, if i was to amass that kind of money to get it done with a highly reputable, experienced surgeon. So not entirely impossible but would require a lot of planning and hard work if I wanted it in the next few years.

Yeah I’d love to hear if Dr Tim O’ Carrigan ends up offering it in Australia, it’d be a serious game changer for all us Australians as that Brazzy guy said on another post. IIRC he learnt from Dr Paley too, so he’d without a doubt be a better bet than a lot of other places and sounds very reputable.

Hey, I’ve been doing some research and it looks like we might have some hope for surgeons in Australia after all. This is what cyborg4life said in a post on this forum:

“ Another surgeon who doesn't care to promote stature lengthening much but definitely is experienced enough, highly regarded by other surgeons and in Australia is Dr. Munjed Al Muderis. In our interview on osseointegration, Dr. Rozbruch mentioned Dr. Muderis is a top talent in OI, which makes a LL procedure look easy. I reached out for interview but no response yet. I bet if I asked for OI he'd be all over it since it's a rapidly growing field and bc CLL is probably not a big scope of practice like the others you mentioned.”

So we have Dr Muderis in Australia. All that’s left is to see what the cost is for this Dr (I’ll update this if interested), but honestly I feel like having it in Sydney, Australia makes it much more convenient than having to do that 90 day visa thing with going to the US and all the extra costs that come with doing it foreign so I’m definitely considering this surgeon a lot from now on regardless.
