Limb Lengthening Femurs with Dr. Marie Gdalevitch in Montreal
« on: January 22, 2025, 10:22:08 PM »

I’ve always wanted to be taller. My starting height is 161 cm during the day and drops to 160 cm at night. After years of living with this height, I decided to undergo limb lengthening surgery. Living in Canada for several years, I realized Montreal was the best option for me. The United States was far too expensive, and I never considered countries like Turkey. Even though I’m originally Eastern European, I’ve never trusted Turkish surgeons or clinics.

I’m genuinely surprised when I hear people, especially from Western countries like the U.S., considering Turkey. It’s not just about safety—there have been numerous reports showing the risks—but also the cost. If you compare the price for the Precice nail in Montreal, it’s even cheaper than Turkey by a few thousand dollars when factoring in the currency exchange rate. Turkey may seem affordable for the LON method, but that procedure is much riskier. I don’t mean to advertise, but I want people to know that there are better, safer options in North America compared to Turkey and other countries that patients should avoid.

Back to my story: when I was younger, I used to stretch a lot and even believe I gained a few centimeters. Still, my height was short. Over time, I started wearing lifts in my shoes. Now, in my mid-30s, I’ve realized that height lifts were taking a toll on my knees. I started feeling discomfort and decided I didn’t want to rely on them anymore. That’s when I made the decision to pursue surgery.

Initially, I waited for the Pmax nail to become available, but when it didn’t, I scheduled my surgery for the fall of 2024. Surprisingly, I wasn’t nervous. I had complete trust in Dr. Marie Gdalevitch after watching her videos on the Cyborg YouTube channel with Victor. She seemed like a skilled specialist and a genuinely kind person, which calmed me down entirely before the procedure. She is also straightforward and I liked it!

On the morning of the surgery, I arrived at her private clinic (was little bit late and they called me when I was in elevator coming up). The operation lasted around two and a half hours, and when I woke up, everything was good. I've seen Dr. Gdalevitch standing above me. I also got big nail, with my weight I was close to have weight bearing nail (it gave me more confidence walking and I knew big nail is stronger).

After the surgery, the staff encouraged me to start walking with a walker. On the first day, I managed to get to the bathroom and back without any significant pain. Later, I was moved to a private room, where I stayed overnight before going home the next day. When you are at private clinic you will get medicine and food.

Dr. Gdalevitch recommended starting with 1,500 steps daily and gradually increasing to 3,000–4,000 steps. She explained that walking stimulates bone growth and promotes faster healing. Unlike some other clinics where patients use wheelchairs, this clinic emphasizes using crutches and walker instead (you will have these for free).

Lengthening started at day number 7. By the 10th day post-surgery I stopped taking Tylenol because I wasn’t experiencing significant pain, lately I took Tylenol from time to time rarely but never had serious paid, may be I have good pain tolerance or my mindset is just right! However, at around 1.5 cm of lengthening, I began feeling discomfort in my left calf. This persisted until I reached 4.5 cm, lasting about a month, but eventually, it went away entirely. During this time, I only used strong painkillers at night (every 2nd-3rd day) to help me sleep better when the calf issue disturbed me. During the day, the discomfort was manageable and didn’t interfere much with my routine. After calf issues was gone (4.5 cm) everything went smoothly up until I reached 8.2 cm.

Dr. Gdalevitch slowed down the lengthening process a few times due to tightness around my knees, but it was never anything too serious, it was just me telling her how I feel in details when she asked and then she said - "you should slow down, it's also better for the bone growth". Few times I was coming back lengthening to 1mm or 0.75mm and then to 0.5cm for the last 5mm of lengthening. She is very cautious, maybe too cautious, but I appreciated her concern for my overall health. Ultimately, she allowed me to lengthen up to 8.2 cm, taking advantage of the extra 0.2 cm the nail offers.

Now, I’m in the consolidation phase, focusing on walking around 4,000 steps daily to speed up the healing process. I’m hopeful I’ll be able to walk without crutches within a few months.

Looking back, I’m really happy I chose to do this surgery here in Montreal with Dr. Gdalevitch and the team at CLLC. This is a great place, and I felt like I was in good hands throughout the process. Physio guys are also friendly and helpful! Physio was 5 days per week.

For anyone considering this surgery, I want to clarify that I’m just an average person who went through the procedure and decided to share my experience. If you have questions, I recommend reaching out directly to Dr. Gdalevitch’s office—they are the best resource for accurate information.
Don't ask me questions as I wanted to share my story but I don't want to be a consultant for others!

Motivational advice - before doing the surgery I was thinking about soldiers at war, how they can be injured and what they can feel, how they recover.. and I told myself that this surgery is nothing too serious, I'll make it!

Another THANK YOU I want to say to Body Builder from this forum! This guy is experienced with information and he answered all my questions especially that I asked before my surgery, he was basically the only one who I asked questions. Thanks bro for spending your time being here and helping others!

Thanks for reading, and I wish everyone the best in their own journeys!

P.S - I wrote my diary with the help of chat GPT as I would be too lazy to write this much :)

I dont know, but this "diary" seems to be only an advertisment for dr. Gdalevitch clinic. A real diary or story is a long one, with many pages and real problems... not like this.

You say the cost of surgery is same like in Turkey... Man, I first tried to do my surgery with her, but believe me, the price is  more than double !... Is pretty much same as in US, but in CAD.

Other big problem is that you must rent a place in Montreal.
And what about the help ?... If you dont have a relative or a spuse... who helps you every day ?
There are nurses who are coming every day to check you ?... If not, you are in trouble, because you can have emergencies every moment, night and day !
Other one is that you must order every day food ... because nobody help you.
Other problem is that you have to call a taxi for anything, because nobody come to help you.
And dr Gdalevitch is a very busy surgeon, so she doesnt have time for you whenever you need.
And, not talking about her rude secretary...
And, not talking about bad weather in Montreal, where is very cold and humid or hot and humid...

So, your story is too easy and not veridic, with no problems and like an every day happiness... so everybody can do this surgery, CHEAP AND EASY... like a breeze !

Forgot to add that I did surgery with Precise nail.

Advertisement or not but I'm really happy that I did surgery in Montreal.
This place is price - quality! 2nd option I was considering was Birkholtz in South Africa!

It was told many times that Turkey is one of the worst places to do the surgery but some people instead of saving money and wait few more years (like I did), they go to Turkey and try their luck then get complications and then cry on this forum. Turkey is a lottery, I don't want to play in any lottery when it comes about my health!

I didn't have time to write my diary step by step because I have life and job, and have to spend lots of time for stretching, walking etc. But I wanted to make a note with my experience because on this forum there was not much information about Dr. Gdalevitch and her patients.

I didn't have any "real" problems except my left calf nerve discomfort, that's it!
Not everyone has complications thanks God!

How come the surgery is double if I checked last March 2024 with Live Life Taller and price they gave me was 68 000 Euros for Precise nail?? And Gdalevitch has 90 000 CAD that came to 67 000 USD for me and now it's even less, it's 64 000 USD because of the lower rate of CAD? Yeah in Turkey you have accommodation for free for 3 months but I have heard stories about it, not really impressive, in Montreal I pay 1300 CAD per month for the nice studio in a hotel looking building. Taking all that converting with currency exchange there is no double price, it's pretty much same.

No one helps me, physio guys can throw away garbage bag if you want but I do everything by my own. As I said before I use walker and crutches, no wheelchair. I didn't believe it first but this is what it is.
I use office chair with wheels if somebody brought food via Instacart or Uber eats, laundry is in my studio with dryer.
Going to do x rays and dopler I just order Uber.
The only time I asked friend and paid him for cleaning but even this I do it now by my own! Using office chair with wheels rolling it all around apartment.

Nurse came only the 1st day after the surgery when I moved back from the clinic, physio guys 5 days per week come to you. Dr. Gdalevitch gives you her contact and you can message her anytime if emergency.
Gdalevitch replied my messages always and pretty fast, from right away up to 45 min time frame.
Well, secretary is new that's what I heard and I had little misunderstandings with her too but in general have never experienced any disrespect.
Bad weather))) means nothing to me. I needed price and quality with good surgeon and I got it!

I have nothing else to say, when left calf disturbed me I had some nights with less sleep and used strong pain killers. Nothing else I can add.
I did sports and prepared with swimming, jogging and stretching, sleeping on the back (3 months in advance).

Two years ago when I checked her, the price difference was much higher... So lucky you !

Dont compare with LLT, because they are expensive and very risky clinic... no more comment about that.

Man, I dont think you never used wheelchair, because this is mandatory for Precice 2. Otherwise you bend the implants.
Everybody knows that !... Usually you are allowed to stand up after 6 months.

Living alone in rent in Montreal, after this surgery, is just life threatening.

Sorry, I have nothing against you, but your story is not not very credible...

I didn't use wheelchair.
That's how it works with Dr. Gdalevitch patients.
She wants you to use walker and then switch to crutches in a few weeks after the surgery.
Before the surgery I didn't believe it either.
Wheelchair you can use only if you want and CLLC will send you a place where you can rent it. Or you can buy your own.
With my weight that was approx 62 kg before the surgery and big nail that I think is 12.5mm I was close to weight bearing but even the other guy who was about 75 kg and got medium mail 10.5 mm he didn't use wheelchair. There was a girl who used wheelchair but only at home. When you come to CLLC and all patients have meeting with Gdalevitch same day you can see, everyone is on crutches.

Why it's life threathening LOL? Nice building, lots of areas to walk. I like it! City is better than many in Canada and even USA.

That's why I didn't do long diary because people ask tons of questions, many of them nonsense. It's time wasting in general.
I told Marie Gdalevitch that I want to do a post on this form, that's my appreciation to her and I did it!

I don't care really who believes me or not, at least I'm the first one who did proper post with the experience at CLLC with Dr. Gdalevitch. There was another guy who started a diary and never finished it.

And about the nail what was told -
It's strong when you stand on it but not walk that's why you keep weight on crutches when you make a step.
Standing is no problem.
You might want to Youtube Cyborg 4 Life and his interviews with Gdalevitch, she is probably talking about all that.

Man, i know all these before of you, relax.
You were lucky because you have a large canal and got 12 mm nails and because you are light weight... otherwise you could bend it. And, believe me, I know what means that !!...
Precice nails can bend even if you are 100% in wheelchair, and that happen especially when you overlengthen !

Usually everybody can stand up on Precice, only for few weeks, till the lengthen is less than 3 cm, then every one should stay in wheelchair.

Yes, if you live alone and no supervised, you can even die and nobody to know about you and help... And that is not a joke !
I am glad to hear you are ok...

Price is in the story, physio is included in 65 sessions.
Food, accommodation, medicine not but was pretty cheap for me as I live now in Quebec and it's partially covered.
Dopler and x rays are covered by Quebec Health System if you are resident.
Right now is the best time to do the surgery because CAD is low but there are shortage of nails worldwide so next Precise nails can be available in April or later.
For other information you can send them email with your questions.
