How much should I lengthen femurs and tibias to reach 13cm?
« on: January 11, 2024, 05:26:06 PM »

I am currently 155cm tall with 33.02cm tibias and 36.83cm femurs, so almost a 0.9 t:f ratio. What would be the best/safest ratio to distribute those 13cm? For example lengthening my femurs 8cm would stretch them over 20% their original length but would allow me to lengthen tibias only 5cm which is within the 15% safe limit. It also brings my ratio to about 0.85 which is more aesthetically appealing. However would it be smarter instead to stretch the tibias a little further to take the femurs back within the <20% safe limit? I've seen a few diaries on here of people successfully lengthening their femurs 8cm, including someone my height, so I wonder if that is actually the safer option than going beyond 5cm for tibias.

Consult with a surgeon on this question rather than getting advice on a topic such as this here on the forum. But I do think 8 cm femurs/ 5 cm tibias is a decent option in your case. Or you could do 7.5 cm femurs and 5.5 cm tibias. For tibias, up to 6 cm is still generally considered a safe lengthening, as long as you are under constant supervision by the surgeon and are doing physical therapy to prevent ballerina foot.

If u were going going for both i'd go 8cm femur n 5 on tibia. the tibia have alot of complications . but with 13cm there will be alot of complications still.
