For example, I have seen on the internet where people lengthen over 7cm on their tibias through LON
but I have yet to see anybody lengthen over 6cm on their tibia through PRECICE 2.2.
Therefore, I came to a conclusion that you can lengthen slightly more using LON as opposed to PRECICE 2.2 .
Why is it that? Can anybody enlighten me on this?

No major reasons other than the fact that precice is capped at 8 cm

This.

They purposely limited it to 8cm because going beyond that is dangerous. The human body, no matter the nail or Doctor, can only handle so much.

Current LL plan:
QLL in Early 2025 using the PRECICE nail with Dr. Birkholtz.
4cm tibia, 4cm femur. One year later, re-break for another 4+4. 167cm -> 175cm -> 183cm

I think with lon ilizarov they give u a heel shoe to wear during lengthening phase. So ur achilles is most upwards. While precice 2 there's nothing to lift ur achilles with besides pt. Pt is painful too if u do it everyday.

  • The limits do not set you, you set the limits.

Theoretically, there are no limits on how much you lenghten. In practice, it all comes to whether you are willing to sacrifice some 5+ years for additional intense recovery and have potential complications-related surgeries.

In some northern regions of Samogitia, the average height for 20 year old males is around 6'3''.
So yes, you can say I am striving for average. 🙃

Your soft tissues will give out eventually. Your nerves, muscles, tendons, and even skin can only handle so much. Could someone lengthen an entire 12 inches? Maybe if they did it over 5 years, lengthening a little bit at a time ala Paley Option 5 (4+4, then a year later another 4+4).

I have not heard of anyone doing that. It's very unrealistic.

Thank you for linking this. 159 to 181cm, 22cm total, is 8.66 inches.

It's important to note that he did not do it in a single procedure, but 3, all spaced out.

I am a bit more than 5'11- 9.5 tibias and 6,6.2 in femurs.
Which is 21.7cm, but I suppose the difference is negligible and rounding is fine.

No one has question depsite me doing a lot of lenghening(8.5+ ;) )
So he lengthened 9.5cm on tibias and he had to get Achilles Tendon Lengthening. As Dr. Paley has stated on video, doing so will always result in reduced power/function of the Achilles, which is unlike the IT band that will recover as if nothing ever happened.

I can jump, but havent tried being explosive. I can stand on my toes too easily..I confirm these are not the side effects as people mention on this forum for ATL(when done right). Although I could say I got very slightly pronated feet which doesnt really bother at all, but may have an impact if I were to say run or sprint. I read it makes you susciptible to falling.?
What secret method does Dr. Catagni and Dr. Pili use? What method? (Click here for link) Percutaneous method, Gastronemius Recession, or Z-Plasty? Or are they doing something different? And if they were, why are no other LL surgeons talking about it? I want to know what wizard magic Dr. Catagni and Dr. Pili know that other Doctors don't know. How is it that they are able to overcome human biology and others cannot? I'm being a little cheeky here. But on a serious note, it sounds like BS.

How can you claim you are getting side effects...but there's no way it's due to the Achilles lengthening?

(Link to his proportions)

Does anyone else notice a slight bow legged-ness? I'd like to see him standing with his feet together to confirm.

also turned out i am given the 12.6mm precise 2...
I rebroke my femurs late september and did another 6cm.(6.2 to be accurate). This is ofcourse 6 months after last 6cm. I had full bone healing and gained back my flexion/extension/mobility fully prior.
(Link to x-rays)
PRECICE has a maximum of 8cm. You can see in the x-rays they removed the distal screws, reset the nail, then re-nailed it again. You can see the old screw locations that need to be filled in now.

Definitely an interesting diary. Like I said, you can lengthen an extreme amount if you space it out like he did. Even Paley does it. It's been about 2 years since the last procedure, I'm sure he could get his femurs and tibia's done again to go from 8.66 inches to 12 inches, gaining 3.34 inches/8.4 centimeters. 2018 to now, it's been 5 years total. But is this realistic? I don't think so. Consider the financial impact and the time lost. Plus, at some point your proportions are going to be absolutely screwed.

To be honest, I wouldn't do it either, the Achilles tendon in itself is a very delicate joint and as you say, the impact on a physical, financial level and above all the enormous investment of time it requires is sacrificed like hell and without mentioning the archaic method of ilizarov, it is something that I personally would not tolerate. By the way, great terminology and knowledge yours

I read the article you shared and ATL is a definite NO. Making too many cuts in the tendon to extend it seems counterproductive to me and the 8 risks associated with ATL is something that is not worth sacrificing the rest of your good years of good health and mobility. For someone who suffers from chronic tendonitis it is favorable, but for someone who undergoes this for "aesthetics" while being in good health it will not be fruitful.
By the way, I read that Dr. Paley was supervised by Catagni and they operated together a couple of times, in turn Catagni is also familiar with Dr. Phili
