Opinion on people sharing their LL journey on social media
« on: July 05, 2023, 05:10:48 PM »

Not that anyone asked for it...but my opinion is shut the f up, you're not helping anyone in this community with your narcissistic loud mouth.  Its just harder to do this surgery and have people not notice.  Everything from gaining height to the scars.  No amount of awareness you think you're bringing is going to stand in the way of being judged for doing this.  You're not getting a bravery medal once your tiktok goes viral or do a media interview.  You just look like a clown and bring unwanted attention to this whole space.  People who are short and have an issue will find this niche forum and about the procedure.

Just wanted to say that as I see more attention whores using this for odd clout.  Feel free to disagree.

Their lives, their rules.

If you don't like the idea of being "discovered" getting CLL, you have two options:
  • Hide it better from other people.
  • Don't get CLL.

If I get this surgery (I hope, but it's expensive), I would share it when other people ask me, because I have nothing to hide. It's my journey, so It's my liberty of sharing it, even on social media.

Note: at this moment I'm only a "pretender", I want to know more about this interesting procedure. Hopping to become 185 cm (6'1'') from 174 cm (5'8 ½''), but it is too expensive.
My sitting height is 92½ - 94 cm (36''½ 37''), my length of legs is 81 cm (32'') and my armspan is 180 cm (70'' 7/8).

I think some people like participating in documentaries because they just like the attention (not saying this in a bad way, even I would love to be interviewed as a guest on CNBC to talk finance) and don't have any shame about doing LL. So this is just one way they can get in front of a camera and on TV. Remember, a large portion of the world is doing cringey stuff on social media just to get views, including staged pranks and what not. So, I can see how some people who do LL do interviews and documentaries just because it's their subject matter and there is an interest in the media about it.

And surgeons love colluding with such patients because they get free publicity. Just so as to not appear as money hungry doctors, they use euphemisms like "we're helping patients feel like their true self", et cetera, instead of being blunt with "Yeah I need the extra money and this is a surgery I can do safely with my expertise and have so many patients begging me to do it".

This trend will only continue to grow. I don't think any patient who does more than 4-5cm can realistic "hide" this anymore. It would also be a bit morally fraudulent to do so.

I will do the same thing when I get it done. I completely disagree and the more people who speak awareness of the surgery the more "normal" and accepted it gets in society. It's like religion in this aspect. I honestly don't understand why you created this discussion and page? If people have the balls and think for their own reasons that it will benefit others and themselves by sharing that they have done LL, why do you need to hate on them?

It's unfortunete that there is so many people on this forum asking either obvious questions or just stupid ones that barely matters like some random individuals personal opinion about social media sharing of LL....

Why are so many of you guys on this forum afraid of other peoples opinions about LL? Don't live in fear of what other people think. There will always no matter what be people who think your're an idiot for this and that, and if you love yourself enough you will learn that it doesn't matter one bit if people think your cool enough.
