It will depend on how much you lengthen.

Highly individual.
about 1 year 3 months since my fixator removal, still not walking anywhere close to normal, can't run for  .
Waiting on a date to get my internal rods removed, hopefully that will make me able to start trying to run but we'll see.
My case had complications though, obviously as it was in Turkey.

The norm is 8 months. about 3 months lengthening, 3 months full weight bearing consolidation, and 2 months to normal gait. And then from them it's just progressively getting
stamina back.

This is in an ideal normal situation. 7 months if you're a good bone healer. and prob 9 months if you deal with complications like me. One of my nails malfunctioned so I have a surgery scheduled next week to get it replaced. I'm prob more like 4 months lengthening and 2.5 months consolidation.

I know someone with a weight-bearing nail who had fast consolidation and was walking with a normal gait within 5 months from surgery.

8 months for non weight bearing nails. 6 months is the norm for weight bearing nails

Hey, where in Turkey did you go if you don’t mind me asking?

1 year after removal femur and still not walking with normal gait, its slowly getting better, but apparently very slow

Muscles don't seems so "weak" because I can do a lot of squats, and Drs. say that my bone is well no problem there

Is this 1 year something in the normal range and somehow "acceptable"? Am I still expected to heal?

It's more than just glutes and quads. Have you been strengthening all the stabilizing miracles?
You do stuff like this:

You can do that type of exercise in 4 different directions on each leg. That might help. Hope you're walking normally soon.

Just know theres a big difference between "walking normally" as in people wont think you look weird....and actually feeling normal and strong again.  A lot of people on here downplay their situation.  Dont push this procedure to its limit, be safe.  If you do lets say 7CM its probably going to take you a couple years to really feel something close to normal again.  However you will likely walk with a normal gate and feel pretty good sooner than that.

It varies from person to person. I did over 7cm and was back to normal better than friends who never had any surgery after just 7.5 months. Most people don't put much effort into their rehab tbh

For femurs only, my PT says as early as 4 months on Precice if you put the work in.

Thanks

This exercise, even with heavy ankle weights I also can do easily

Is there more recommended?

I also do clumshells with elastic bands, which also target similar muscles (middle glutes)
