Door width to fit wheelchairs and walkers
« on: May 11, 2023, 04:28:28 AM »

I've read that ideally door frames should be 32 inches wide for wheelchair access but what is the minimum width for a wheelchair and walker to fit through a door?

When stryde 2 is releasing this is barely going to be important. Sure your're not going to walk before like 2 months into lengthening but still, you would almost be able to ditch the wheelchair completely

Fortunately yes. You would also consider a weight bearing nail like Betzbone should you choose to move forward before it’s released. But NuVasive is an excellent country and I have a hard time believing Betz and his nail have the same kind of instantaneous support like the NuVasive peeps (Specifically Bijan)

In the U.S., look for ADA compliance standards. ADA = Americans with Disabilities Act

https://www.access-board.gov/ada/guides/chapter-4-entrances-doors-and-gates/

Door width must be at least 32 inches wide. Possibly as low as 30 inches, but 32 inches minimum to be safe and ADA compliant.

Walker standard widths are 25 to 29 inches wide, so at least 30 inches door width to go forward with a walker. You can try to go through a narrower door sideways on a walker, which takes less width.
