SYNOSTE Nitinail System Trial
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03752814

"The SNS is intended for lengthening of the femur by distraction osteogenesis."

Ah. Guess people who have done femur LL already are out of the picture for this? Unless they try to make a tibia nail later.. Probably gonna do tibia precise 2.2 next November

Considering how long it took them to get the femur nail going who knows how long a tibia nail would take.

I wouldn't want to be on test crew tbh. Even if they release a new device, I would wait for 2 or 3 years to see the follow ups.

Dr. Assayag says full weight bearing isn't necessarily a good thing for bone growth. A lot of stryde patients have experienced non union. Here is the full video.

Did you read the trial? This study is the test crew with a multi-year long follow up. Different to Stryde nail who did no trials at all and went straight into use.

With G nail and Betzbone there aren't many cases of non union and they are weight bearing too and much more traumatic than a magnetic nail.

For me stryde was the biggest step for LL after the Ilizarov frames. Full weight bearing magnetic nails is the easiest way to do LL and its a pity that stryde is out of the marker.
Synoste, if it is reliable, it would be an excellent option and maybe it would decrease the price of fully internals when stryde comes back, due to competition. Also it will put mechanical nails in the trashcan where they belong, once and for all.

Why is it more traumatic?  They both lengthen your bone the same amount and at the same rate.  Definitely more of a pain in the ass though.

Clicking is more difficult and nail can't reverse in case of non-union. There is also the issue of accidental clicking which doesn't happen with magnetic nails. Once magnetic weight bearing nails are back Betz and Gnail will see a dramatic decline in users.

Yeah I wonder.. because I know that Dr. Dimitrios Giotikas in Athens using gnail for femurs but not gnail for tibias (which I believe exists, Dr. Jean-March Guichet uses it in France). In Athens they use precise 2 for tibias though.

I somehow keep forgetting to ask Dr. Giotikas in the in person doctor appointments why g-nail is not used for tibias in Athens (safety, medical, business reason, regulatory), somehow I forget to ask him this during every single meeting

With every clicking on albizzia nails and generally any mechanical nail its like breaking again your bone. This makes rehabilitation longer and makes the whole experience much more uncomfortable and painful.
And there are the other problems that 1team mentioned too.

Here is more information:

I think everybody here needs to email Globus Medical and push them to release it!

Looks like globus medical/synoste nitinail will be delayed again since no update so more failure for them no magnetic nail for 2023.

Kind of pointless for them now since the new precise nail will be out before them so they will have a product that lengthens less and is irrelevant.

This article says Synoste Nitinail was getting ready to release in 2017! 6 years later and still nothing. Unbelievable it's 2023 and it's either mechanical nails or non weight bearing Precise.

Worth updating the Synoste Nitinail was a total failure. It was meant to launch in 2017 and as of 2023 the clinical study has been terminated due to "administrative reasons". Very disappointing news.

Looks like 2024 waiting for new Stryde is the only magnetic weight bearing option hopefully they don't screw up again and take another 3 years to get a working nail out!

According to Paley at the earliest it would be back in Q4 2024. So your're properly right. I expect it to be back 2025 in Q3, with that statement in mind.

I'm going to be one ;) They had one small issue and decided without force to take it off the market. If they're that responsible, they're going to test EVERYTHING before re-releasing it.
