It's extremely painful, believe me. 8/10.

10/10 is pain where you want to kill yourself.

The most pain I experienced was 5 with internals. First couple of weeks after the surgery I had to deal with surgical pain.  I got nerve pain after the first month through out the lengthening phase and many months after the lengthening.

Imo, I regret doing LON. I should've done Precise 2.2 in the Tibia or gone for a Weightbearing nail Like the G nail.
Why? because The Risk of infection with LON is high. I only learned about all this when i was in the frames and the frames are so uncomfortable. The pain depends. Sometimes it's as low as 3/10 where you are so happy about life and sometimes it's 9/10 when you wonder why you ever did LL in the first place.

I highly recommend choosing an Internal method, a weightbearing nail would be even better.

Nerve pain is the worst of it all. I had crazy nerve pain, I still have some but it's going away now.
Basically it can be a burning sensation, a tingling sensation, u can feel pins and needles throughout ur leg or feet, a sense of electric shocks and much more.
After my frames were removed is when I had the WORST nerve pain, I couldn't eat in peace or even sleep properly and i'd often wakeup from the pain. I had crazy pins and needles on the bottom of my feet and my entire sole of the foot is still numb but now it's much much better than it was, My nerve pain has been too bad because I had to Decompress my Common Peroneal Nerve along with The Tibial Nerve passing through the tarsal tunnel. It was seriously the worst pain i've ever experienced in my life, i still have a tiny bit but i'm sure it's gonna be zero in some time

Did you get an infection?  I had my frames on for 4.5 months, in a hospital that was not up to 1st world cleanliness standards.  Zero infections.  Some risks you can't control but I think how you take care of yourself can make a big difference.

It's pretty brutal, oral voltaren does wonders though.
oral voltaren in combination with tramadol before bed makes nights manageable.
But yeah, when you're not coveredby pain killers, it's brutal.
(speaking from LON femurs experience).
Worst was when I approached 5cm and the proximal pin sites started to bend, felt like stabbing knives when pain killers ran out.

Totally agree... I had to take tramadol every day, morning and night, and even sometimes during the day... I wish i had made a journal to note my pain in the first leg... its near 2 months i finished lenghtening my second leg and im anxious to know when the pain will finish in the second one...

It's different for everyone. For me, during some moments In physiotherapy pain can go to a 9/10, where I start sweating and begging. When resting it's like a 3/10. When walking it's a 4/10.

It seems like LL on hard mode thats for sure.  No disrespect to anyone who has done it or will do it but I personally would never sign up for it.  I cant imagine having scaffolding pinned to my legs and being immobile.  Also the scars are going to be way worse.

I'd say it helps being somewhat naive going into LON femurs lol, as once you wake up after surgery there's no way back 
But yeah, only scars that bother me are the proximal pin site ones.
However, surgeon has told me that he can essentially cut them out and make them appear much better once I go back to remove the internal rods after full consolidation.

Lmfao, "theres no way out" doesnt seem like my cup of tea but at least you're done.  Yeah it seems revision surgery is basically a necessity with LON.  Otherwise you're going to have these deep pits.

I'm planning to do pure TSF externals and it can take up to 9 months. Could you please explain how did you manage that timeframe while you are on the frames? How was exactly your routine? Were you showering?

voltaren is an nsaid, youre not supposed to take this every doctor knows this, but in turkiye they use you guys for experiments and research purposes
