Hello,

Many probably recognize me on here by now.  My surgery is in about a week with Betz/Becker.

I have started to think about the consolidation phase and how to get back up to speed as fast as possible.  I went through many journals today of prior LL patients.

One item that seems to keep getting brought up is weak glutes that makes walking harder.  And apparently its a slow process to build them.

With this in mind and just overall weak legs, Im exploring supplementing with either peptides or steroids.  I dont think I could get hold of HGH even if I wanted to in the US and the side effects seem harsh but I dont know a lot.

The peptide that many recommend is BPC-157 but I know there are others.  And for steroids I suppose Deca?

Right now I am leaning towards just taking peptides but am curious on other general opinions on this topic.  Does anyone have experience or suggestions?

Thanks.

I was exploring this myself, been using BPC157 myself previously for lateral epicondyalgia which worked wonders.
The research is positive for it's bone healing properties (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29998800/) among everything else it does, I haven't seen a single person using it regards to leg lengthening recovery.
I was considering to be the N=1, but my bone healing was just fine without it so I didn't see a reason.

But yeah, I can't see any con of doing BPC157 and/or TB500 during the consolidation phase.
You're likely to receive the best cost to benefit ratio doing the peptides and not doing the steroids unless you're blasting and cruising from before.

Yeah ive heard BPC157 and TB500 combo before.  Ill prob end up doing this actually.  I hope it actually does something and its not just placebo.  Good to know it worked for you though.

Its actually really surprising this stuff isnt talked about more on this site.  This stuff is being consumed by athletes and celebrities to recover faster, clearly theres something to it if they're all doing it.

It certainly works, and it works exceptionally well.
The problem is it's not FDA approved, and it's primarily used in bodybuilding communities. People are more reluctant to take stuff that's not approved for human consumption, as well as not familiar with experimental peptides unless you come from a community that talks about this stuff from before, which most people undergoing leg lengthening are not a part of.

But yeah, I can't see any con of doing this during the consolidation period.

Does this only help with bone consolidation?  I'm assuming you should only do this after lengthening is complete?  But it doesn't seem like bone consolidation is an issue with most people.  Are you aware of any peptides that would help with the other aspects of recovery i.e. ligaments stretching, muscle, and pain?

It helps recovery in all tissues.
Yes, you'd want to do this after the lengthening is complete to avoid potential early consolidation.

Ill probably do a deeper dive on peptides 2 months from now when Im getting ready for consolidation, but just pulling up random info it looks like it speeds up recovery for basically everything including bone: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29998800/

As you mentioned, I will not be doing this during lengthening (to avoid early consolidation) but peptides are angiogenic (they form new blood cells in tissue).  I wonder if doing a small amount even through lengthening would help counter scar tissue from forming.  Or maybe even allow people to lengthen faster with full doses.  Way too early to be experimenting with this, I def wont be the guinea pig.  But its something that should be explored for future patients.

Maybe the india doctors and their busses of experiment humans can at least give this a go so we learn something   ;)

I'd say it could be beneficial if your mid lengthening X-rays shows insufficient bone growth, but then again, this is something you won't be convincing your doctor to give you as that would put their license at risk, and essentially something you'd have to source before your surgery and injecting yourself throughout the process.

Again, there's no reports of people who have done this for leg lengthening specifically, there are no studies done on it for leg lengthening specifically so yeah, you'd be N=1.

As for scar tissue, I don't think it would do much. Look into Verteporfin for that instead.
Here's some material on it.
https://stanforddaily.com/2021/05/27/in-groundbreaking-discovery-stanford-researchers-identify-drug-that-could-prevent-scarring/

I became interested in verteporfin due to it's potential use in hair loss.
There is currently one hairloss surgeon who is testing this on a patient, he has documented it in this thread:

Pay attention to the treated and non treated skin tissue.

Verteporfin is interesting, reading up on this.  Doesnt seem like its approved for scar treatment.  Prob to old for pharmas to make any money on it or something.
