Nerve is the no.1 concern long term
« on: December 31, 2022, 04:01:38 AM »

This is my opinion. Does anyone agree or has seen related article? Let's discuss
"
The reason your physical ability diminishes after surgery seems to be formation of scar tissue in the muscle
but nerve controls every detailed movement and feeling in your leg. Also nerve is likely slow and incomplete in recovery.
So in the long term, nerve is responsible for full recovery and the first priority.

I don‘t agree with this at all. At least for femur. Tibia apparently has more risks for nerve problems.

I think biggest long term thing could be alignment and osteoarthritis. But everyone has different issues with this so yea. But haven’t seen a single case of femur LL where there is long term nerve problems.

Don't agree either.
If you lengthen at a normal rate and don't exceed the limits and also if the doctor knows what is doing and don't hit any nerve during the surgery then it won't cause any problem at all.

As Lostsoul mentiomed the biggest problem of LL in the long run is any malunion that will cause premature arthritis and of of course any discrepancy which will have the same result. And of course excessive lengthening which will diminish your athletic abilities and may lead to arthritis and osteoporosis.
But nerves won't cause problems in the long run if there isn't any fault with the surgery.
