Patients who start with heights of 5'10+
« on: November 28, 2022, 04:18:34 PM »

I had this thought like they can either (obviously) just not do this surgery and enjoy their already great height

Maybe an exception would be places where people are very tall/his friends are very tall and then 5'10 would feel like an effective 5'8 to them

Or they could just do 5cm internal femurs with a weight bearing nail that can support their (sometimes) greater weight and get 6+ feet --and be walking in noticeably less time compared to people doing like 7-8 cm

And then just 5cm compared to their already long legs would not be that noticeable proportionally/leg proportions would still look good. So I wonder if in a weird way if doctors would see a 5'10 + patient as a great candidate (them not having to do as much length to achieve a great final result seems like a significant advantage). Then again, there was that already tall Polish basketball player Dr. Betz talked about in the youtube interview who did 13cm on femurs and the doc felt it was crazy

Though realistically, I guess if a 5'10 + person does LL he probably is going to do more than 5 cm because he has that kind of personality to want to improve on something that is already pretty good

People 5’10+ (unless in nordic country I suppose) getting this surgery likely have very little thats notable about them and see this as their opportunity to finally stand out at something (being tall).  Thats the only way I can rationalize the decision.  Leaning on height as a crutch for shortcomings in other areas of life seems like hiding the underlying issue in my opinion.

Whereas short people getting the surgery - height is clearly and distinctly an issue that is attributing to a worse life and no amount of working on other areas will make up for it.

If it were like getting a tattoo or a nose job Id say anyone should get it.  Its fun to be taller, new perspective etc…but its not.  Your breaking your legs in half and taking serious risks.  Its also a colossal waste of time.  Im not thrilled to be in my prime years in my early 30’s spending a year to do this surgery.

Not trying to be a hater and everyone can do as they wish but thats how I see it.

Yea I agree with you here. I can understand someone wanting to become taller if they are 5’10” and all their family members are taller than them and they live in a tall country. But even in tall families someone’s gotta be the one who’s on the shorter end even if most people would consider them average or tall.

I also have seen people use height and other things as a crutch or something they use to show off even though it’s something they didn’t even work towards and earn as it was mostly genetics. Like I can understand someone telling others or listing in there social media bios how much they lift or there job titles as they probably put work into it. I remember seeing a twitter bio where it basically said “6’7” with shoes” I wish I was joking but the guy actually put that in his bio. I also saw a d bio where I guy put down his height which I don’t understand as it’s not a dating platform, same with twitter. I’ve seen it quite a bit of this on other social media platforms as well.

It’s kinda like if girls just started putting their weight or their waist size in their bios. Weight can be changed for the most part but for some their waist will always be a certain size even if they loose weight as there pelvis bone is bigger.
