Going from 174.5 --> 183 and keeping it a secret
« on: October 20, 2022, 11:48:11 AM »

I'm going to be flying alone, to get femurs increased by just over 3 inches  , 7.5cm/7.95cm  , and making up the rest with glucosamine/stretching (i might, with stretching and glucosamine , be 175 or more...half a cm glucosamine, half a cm from proper stretching , improving posture, esp given i have short legs and a long spine and neck worthy of someone much taller).

How do i plan on keeping it secret?

First 3.5 months, i will lengthen 7.5/7.95cm
1.5 months, walking, lots of physio, walking walking walking until my gait is 95%.

Then i will wear flat shoes, and, when around family, make sure i slouch. Before flying off, i will wear shoes with one inch lifts, and , slippers of 1 inch at the house.

As family begin to get more used to it...given i am very skinny, i'm going to pile on a lot of weight on the legs and body and hit 200lbs

I'm also getting other surgery done for my face.

So in the end, i'll begin standing taller...and look much heavier / muscular, and they'll confuse it with that.

I've been away from home for 2-3-4-5-6 months at a time, so i'll play it cool when away, text regularly etc.

Femur scars are far more subtle , fewer of them, and i'll try to get Rod removal sometime in 2024 , and then get laser etc, anything to fade it away so nobody will ever know.

This remains my biggest interest...has anyone gotten away with family not knowing you had it done.  Had a few answers but wish more people would mention what their experience was.

I have no doubt you can get away with it from semi-close friends and distant relatives.  But I can imagine it becomes quite noticeable with direct family members and very close friends.

Heres a suggestion I have for you.  Measure out some books (thickness).  Put them on the ground.  Take a photo of yourself without the books and one standing on the books (just take a video to make it easy and screenshot).  Put the two photos side by side.  Then ask yourself...can I really get away with that?  If I saw this person in real life would it be obvious?  I did this with 2 inches and it looks like a stretch but possible.  But even with 2 inches you're almost looking over your former selfs head.  With over 3 you're almost an entire head taller.  Youll see that with the photos.

I think this is difficult, your starting height is average, and you became tall, people will notice this especially direct family members.

Forget about your glucosamine witch doctor centimeters. 7-8 cm on femurs is probably about the limit you can hide but it's possible if you're proactive, depending on how observative your family are. Check one of my previous posts for everything I did/ would do.

I didn’t tell anyone including my immediate family. Once I showed signs of athletic recovery I’m sure my parents wouldn’t be worried for me even if they knew. Maybe they know maybe they don’t, but we don’t ever talk about it. I live far away from them so we only meet during vacations once in a while anyway. If they know, they have been tactful enough to never bring anything up around me.

If you have people you hang out with frequently then it’s going to be noticeable. I did it during the pandemic so I got away with not seeing people until I absolutely had to. Then anyone who remotely mentioned anything about my height I’d just gaslight the crap out of them. Just remind them that it’s impossible to grow as an adult and they should check to see if they shrank if they think you grew.

I have heard people say things like “make up a different procedure you had done” like correcting bow-legs, or anterior pelvic tilt etc. I honestly don’t think this is the way to go. It draws attention to the fact you had a surgery that increases height and could just bring up more questions. I think just feigning ignorance is the way to go, “ you look taller!”, “Oh really, that’s good!”. Just dismissing it casually. This will only work obviously if you live on your own and have the ability to not see your parents or friends for extended periods of time so you can get your gait back to normal.

Theres also limits.  Being a fully grown adult and brushing off a 3+ inch height gain to direct family members is a stretch.  2 inches and you can try.

To anyone much shorter that you, they will probably have no idea.  Its when you get eye level or above eye level with people that it becomes obvious something is up.

I tried to build on Sambolio's existing comment on this thread but I don't think I understand how posts work on here lol. Anyways,

The "other procedure being needed forced me to become taller" I think is the best possible excuse but still not the best really. The best would be this if you absolutely have to explain yourself. If you don't use this I would say do 2 procedures (extremely expensive) and then you can gain height, get people accustomed, and then gain height again, get people accustomed. Realistically, once you gain height I don't think you'll care really, and if you have such great established relationships beforehand they won't really care if they found out, in which case use the first excuse that another procedure was necessary for some other correction. Also I think if your relationships are super amazing you wouldn't be considering leg lengthening as hard but I could be wrong of course.

By 2 procedures I mean Femur and Tibia instead of just Femur like lots of people get. This will also make for better proportions at the same time and more height gain if you really need it.
