Dr Giotikas reputation ?does he better than buldu?
Mh opinion being a "new" patient in Athens.
I think Giotikas is at the moment the best option in Europe.
I think (my impression of him) is that he's a very conservative and expert surgeon (having practiced for many years in the army). When I had the consultation with him he explained a lot of details around the protocols that he adopts and he elaborated on each point the reasons why certain protocols (I appreciated that).
But is not only him. I mean the surgery, the protocol are important, the meds are super Important... but that's mainly for the first few days/weeks. After that, the crucial crucial and let me repeat... crucial part of it is PT (physical therapy).
That is IMO the key to a successful lengthening. Having the PT covered in the cost for the entire duration of the lengthening I think is a big plus.
The bad points IMO are the logistics of the transportation around Athens. The PT centre is quite far from the sponsored hotels (although now they'll add another one which is closer). But it is a considerable cost.
I know they are about to purchase a car or van to then transport as many patients as possible to and from PT for free and that's good. But it would be super ideal if they would create a proper centre for limb lengthening and provide accommodation, food, PT, nursing and all that under one (big) roof. Athens I think is an amazing place to rehab.
I hope they do it in the future
