Femur lengthening: knee pain
« on: September 17, 2022, 02:39:00 AM »

Hi, I had femoral lengthening a couple months ago with Precice. I'm about two weeks into the consolidation phase. Recently, I've noticed that whenever I would apply pressure under my thigh (e.g. when you're sitting on a chair and part of your leg is supported by the chair while the other is hanging off) then let go to release the pressure, I'd feel a quick jolt of pain around my knee. It's only in one leg too, which is weird. Anyone heard of this before?

I have the exact same jolt of pain too.
Left leg only. I am almost one month post op. Femoral G-nail.

On top of that I get knee pain when walking (with crutches) for more than... 10 minutes.

Doctor and Physio tell me it's normal

I'm sorry to hear that. Do you think this pain go away with time?

I haven't lengthened any of my bones yet but doctors says this happens due to muscle weakness. You need to gain your muscle tone back, gradually. Best wishes on your journey.

It's normal, and yeah just muscles weakness. I had mild knee pain on my left throughout lengthening I think. It lessened throughout consolidation, and gone when I started walking with crutches.

I had knee and other random pain after I stopped lengthening. It went away but took sometime. It is normal and because body is getting use to the height gain and muscle weakness. Currently, I stretch several times a day, heavy leg work out at the gym and take glucosamine and Curcumin. I also use the massage gun once a day. I don't have pain anymore.
