Hi, I’m considering LON on the tibias with Dr. Solomon. I’m a 25 year old male and I’m currently around 5’8 3/4 and would like 5cm of lengthening.
I can’t remember where I read it, but I recall that being on the taller side makes the process a little easier — that you could go beyond the traditionally recommended 5cm with less risk. Does this mean my process might be smoother going for 5cm being the height I am? As I understand it, beyond 3cm things get a little more difficult and you have to cut back on the length you lengthen per day.
Also, considering the need for flexible muscles during recovery, would it make sense to get supper flexible and do a lot of work before getting the procedure? Would this make my recovery quicker?
I’m also a little confused about the theoretical time scale. Are the frames takes off as soon as you’re done lengthening?
Many thanks.
if you're not russian i'd skip solomin, you'd want to be near him and have to do all the hassle of finding an apartment, food, laundry, groceries, bandage changes, going to the hospital for xrays and all that shyte on top of being in major pain and disabled because they dont give out opiates(as far as i know)
also if they dont help you with a medical visa, the normal tourist visa is 90 days, and you cant get a multiple entry one because that only allows 90 days stay each 180 day period, so it has to be consecutive single entry visas that means you need to travel to a nearby country outside of russia and stay a week there to get a new visa
and you will find it difficult to do that because at 90 days you'll be just about begun recovery after frame removal and I can tell for a fact, you wont wanna go anywhere for weeks
overstaying your visa in russia is a serious offense with massive consequences
stretching before the surgery doesnt have any tangible effect on recovery, you need to stretch during the frames and after. but i tell you from experience, i barely stretched during the frame time and still got an easy recovery
yes the frames are taken off as soon as you are done and wish them to come off, usually within 5-7 days after you ask for it so that they can organize the hospital stay and their schedule
Thanks, yes I’ve heard about ballerina foot.
I’m finding it difficult to ascertain the risks for this surgery in general. Obviously there’s no question that it’s very extreme, but looking at the threads over the years, there doesn’t seem much of a consensus on the true risk of, say, not being able to walk again or suffering from life long problems.
Obviously it also depends on the procedures people get and the amount they lengthen, but there are factors like this ambiguous “permanent knee pain” that I keep hearing about with LON. I can’t really find information here if anyone has suffered seriously with this and how bad it is.
It’s hard to know what I’m getting into, because people either scare you to death with and make it sound like the risks are huge and far out weigh the benefits, but others say that it is a safe procedure.
If you arent retarded you wont get yourself to a situation of not being able to walk again of life long problems.
permanent knee pain happens when a doctor is incompetent and butchers your tendon during the insertion process and then when he hammers the nail into the tibias, he leaves the top edge to hang out of the bone a few millimeters which rubs on your tendon from the back leading to pain everytime you extend the leg(i.e. when you walk). so you'd want to ask your surgeon questions on his technique of nail insertion. if the nail is hammered in the tibia fully and the tendon is dissected carefully the chance of knee pain drops down drastically(still chance of course nothing is certain here).
if you have height neurosis stopping you from enjoying life then you should do it. otherwise it will weigh on you your entire life that you didnt do it
