How common is quadrilateral + confusion about risk
« on: May 04, 2022, 08:44:19 PM »

Who here has gotten quadrilateral, or maybe a second lengthening after first recovery

I don’t understand if the athletic loss from 1 lengthening would be made worse by a second (on the other bone). Does a second lengthening make your recovery worse? Is sports possible at 8cm femurs and 5cm Tibias?

I mean a second surgery will most definitely decrease your athleticism since you are essentially lengthening more muscle in combination with the 1st surgery. Limb lengthening is a very trade-off heavy procedure where you will be giving up your potential physical capabilities for height gain ( no amount of pt/training is going to change this period). That being said many people are happy with the said trade off and are more physically capable compared to people that are overweight, heavy smokers, etc ( if you are any of these don't even think about LL).

This guy is perhaps the most famous JP quad LLer (10cm) that also happens to be a Doctor and his athleticism seems good enough to be passed as a normal person:

Lastly, there are lot of JP LL diary writers on twitter and most of them do 2 surgeries ( seems really common - maybe because they mostly go to Armenia/Turkey).

Wow! That looks great!!! I’ve never seen a video of someone who has done LL running like that!!! What was his starting height? And which doctor did he visit?

167cm -> 177cm. I forgot which Doctor he went to but I think it's that one Armenian surgeon that's also pretty active in youtube.
