For those that have done tibia lengthening, have anyone gone back to running, jumping, squatting, etc?

Whenever I run especially when I push off with my toes, I feel this sore feeling in the front of my tibia, the shin area. I'm guessing it is because where I got the distraction, the front of the tibia didn't grow in as well as the back part. So the bone in front is either not as strong / not as well filled in as the back.

Anyone else experience this sort of not really pain but sore feeling in the shin area near the distraction site? When I start running I feel it, but after running for some time it kind of numbs out or the feeling becomes less. And it is mainly doing exercises where I am pushing off with my toes, i.e. running or sprinting.

I don't get this sore/pain feeling when I walk on a flat road I'm guessing because the pressure is more evenly distributed top down. But whenever I am in the running sprinting position where there is extra force, extra weight, extra pressure being pushed down through my toes to propel my body forward I feel this sore/painful feeling there. Oh and same when I walk uphill, basically whenever the foot is angled up (think walking uphill) and I am putting more pressure on the front of the foot (toes area) to push myself forward or upward, I feel soreness/pain in the shin area.

Anyone else experience this? If you have experienced it, did it ever go away? Any idea if its the muscle, bone, ligament, etc that is causing it?

I haven't done my tibias yet but what you describe sounds like periostitis. When I went for long runs I could sometimes feel this kind of sore feeling. You should immediately stop what you're doing if you get this as it can develope into chronic pain.

How much did you lenghten and when did you have your surgery?

Hmm ok guess I need to get some medical advice. So you've done your femurs and you have something similar?

I lengthened around 5.5cm, surgery was August 2018, had complications (original username Marathonrunner, posts are there), removed nails May 2020 and have been getting back into exercising since then.

I just googled it.

It very well could be cause I have hills around my house and I've been running up and down the trails on uneven surfaces on loose gravel/sand. And sometimes I run with a 30lb weighted vest. But honestly i feel it even when I run on flat surfaces.

I've been only doing weights for lower body once a week and running once a week. Guess I should maybe take a couple weeks off before resuming.
