6 cm vs 8 cm femur STRYDE
« on: January 04, 2022, 07:23:14 PM »

Hi everyone, I know it's not a new topic but can someone link me a diary of someone who did 6cm or less with Stryde ?
We have precice or other methods but no strydes with follow ups with less then 8cm (as far as I'm aware) .
The search bar also works really bad so it's hard to make a search there .
All the diares with follow ups 4/5/6/7 months Post-OP are about 8cm femur lenghetning stryde patients and their recovery can be comprised or prolonged because of the extra 2cm and in general their experience do not reflect the one of a 6 cm lenghetning.

Would like to have an idea of the recovery time of a 5.5/6 cm femur stryde patient if possible .
A link of a diary or the experience of someone who did less then 8 cm on femur with stryde but did not post a diary here might work fine as well .

Thank you :)

I saw him few weeks ago but can't have a clear idea of how he feels .
That diary is more centered on the PE he got (makes sense) so it kinda lacks in other aspects .
I saw his video walking but it's a slow walk and do not give an idea of a normal day outside walk how does it look/feel.

Hi , thank you for your answear .
I read yours but here as well I could not have a clear idea of how u were walking 4 months post op or 5 .
Can you give me a more detailed answer as possible about how you felt 4 n 5 months post op with stryde ?
If you recorded back then a video of your walk that would be awesome but I understand if you don't want to share due to privacy/other reasons .

I wouldn’t worry about recovery time since immobility is just temporary and most people will recover really well at the end (especially with weight bearing nails). However T/F ratio is permanent and none of us know how it may affect you further down the road. 6 cm should at least keep your ratio above 70%. I see you’re on that 6 ft margin and it’s also nice to have solid 6 ft I guess… This is not an easy decision

I worry about recovery because for what I feel reading all your guys diaries , the mental struggle is bigger then the physical one deep down , and a prolonged recovery ( considering that not a single person around me who knows about this supports me)  would be a huge tool for my mental health lol .
So I try to stay ahead and understand as much as I can what to expect .
Regarding your last sentence , you suggest me to add n extra cm to reach the full 6ft right?
I thought about that but I want just to be happy and cross the 180 cm barrier .
181 would put me on a weak but still 180 cm guy even at night time so that extra cm would expose me to a longer recovery or future problems in an exponential way , so I sure thought about it but to me it is not worth it .

How about reaching 6 cm first and letting your doctor examine your legs and estimate how long your recovery may take? That should be the most accurate estimate you are able to get. I think it’s not too late to set or change your goal during lengthening. And not everyone can get 8 cm. (At least I was told only 80% people reached 8 cm with stryde nails at Paley’s institute).

8 would not even cross my mind lol
About more then 6 cm...I sure can see and talk to the doctor but I would like to avoid being greedy .
Do u think it's more muscles or bone healing that affects more the recovery ?
Because I would say I have a normal flexibility but if I have to chose between less or more flex then avarage I would say less .
I can touch the ground with my fingers (no palms down but also not that tight that can't reach the ground).

how do people afford german doctors? if you do LL in germany you are borrowed up to your neck for the next couple years.
Even an engineer wouldnt be able to simply pull out the money out his ass and pay off LL. Its a tough decision for the money I could buy an apartment or get LL. also if you only get 5cm, it wont even do much. Suppose you go up to 5'9 from 5'7 that wont change much. If you went up to around 6ft that would put you in a different league and you would def. feel the difference.

I don't understand here because the topic was not the price or the doctors .
About German doctors depends who you go to but they are around 60k € for femur lenghetning. (Idk what apartment u can buy with that, it's for sure a lot of money but it's for ur own happines so a sport car would not fill you as a height boost would )
In US they go from 70k $ (62k € roughly) up to 90/100k $ and even more so idk why you mention German ones as that expensive.
About the 5'7-5'9 sentence idk because I'm 5'9 looking for 6 cm femurs but your statement is :if u can't reach 6 ft then don't do it because you are gonna be short regardless.
Sometimes it's not about being short or tall but better then we are I guess , n just fit more into society in case of a really short male .

Young boy it's time you jumped beyond the wall to take a look at a totally different world on the other side from that on your side and there are countless loaded patients hanging around this forum and your question doesn't make any sense if you don't mind me to say like that.
Plus no one here is discussing over lengthening by 5cm and O.C obviously they have known the score and no need for you to elaborate it.
