A doubt about Dr. Paley
« on: December 18, 2021, 03:04:10 PM »

Hey guys, I searched a software in our country for a discussion about ll and found a man by chance. He said that he went to the United States in May 2017 and had a Fitbone operation with Dr. Paley. His femur and tibia were lengthened by 6cm respectively. Now he can't squat and walk more than 1km. One leg is 1cm more than the other. All parties shirk their responsibilities. Now he is struggling to protect his rights.
This seems to be a real event. After all, no one will make fun of it. But I don't seem to have heard of Dr. Paley's Fitbone operation, and I remember he didn't agree that the tibia was more than 6cm? And didn't Dr. Paley say that all his patients have recovered their motor ability?? Who can give me an answer? I was so confused that I even doubted the authenticity of some information

That seems fake. Please share the link of the story so we can decide how real this information is?

Why Paley would operate with fitbone in 2017 when he had precice 2.2 (and while he is an important consultant of Nuvasive)..sounds absurd to the point that needs a deeper research lol
To make a fake review quoting a precice 2.2 nail would have been more reasonable so the absurd might make it more valuable of clarifications .

Sorry, I don't know how to copy that link, and my network doesn't seem to allow it. And this account is anonymous. I can't contact and ask him

So it looks fake, But I still don't know why someone will be in a country like ours that knows little about LL (even very few people know Dr. Paley) say something bad for Dr. Paley. That person gets very little attention. If he is trying to slander Dr. Paley, he should know that this statement will not have any impact. Why does he say these words? I'm thinking about his motivation

Ya I agree. I can’t think of any motivation for lying. If he simply made up the story and tried to slander Paley, he could easily make the story more reasonable. However I also can’t think of any reasons why Paley would use fitbone when precice 2 was available. Paley said it himself that fitbone is first generation lengthening nail which has significant mechanical and other problems. Precice 2 is second generation and was also designed by Paley.

And it’s possible to do 6 cm on tibias at paley institute as long as they think it’s safe.

I think Paley didn't even use Fibtone in the old days.  He was using ISKD when I was getting LL.

Stryde also wasn't conceived by Paley?

According to the Paley Guidebook, Paley has never done Fitbone before.

"What are the results from internal lengthening of the femur and tibia? I have performed implantable lengthening of the femur for 25 years, and have used the Albizzia (1996 to 2000), the ISKD (2001-2010), the PRECICE.0 (2011-2013) PRECICE 2.0 (2013), PRECICE 2.1 (2014), and PRECICE 2.2 (2015 to present), STRYDE (2018-2020). I have the world’s largest experience with the ISKD (more than 300 cases) and the PRECICE and STRYDE (more than 2000 cases). " Page 24.

Does the book tell who taught Paley to do Ilizarov and LL?
He sometimes "forgets" some "little" less convenient things in his CV.. .
