Running pain after tibia lengthening
« on: September 01, 2021, 11:32:18 AM »

For those of you that have lengthened your tibia, any pain in the front distraction area when you run?

I’m at the 2 year mark (after lots of complications) and have been running and jumping but every time I exert force when my feet strikes the ground, the front tibia area where there was the distraction still has some pain. And when I run harder (try to sprint) there is more pain the more force I throw into the ground. It feels like the bone is weak, when I walk it’s fine no pain (or very little) but when I jump around with someone on my back or carry weights or run/ jump I can feel it in the front of the tibia where I’m guessing has less bone growth than the back. Anyone else experience this? Is this something that will go away as the bone strengthens as I put more and more weight or force on it? Or anyone still experience this like many years after the surgery?

Why don't you consult a doctor instead?

I haven't experienced this.  I have issues with the tibialis anterior muscles but not with the distraction site.

I see. My guess is the bone wasn’t as strong in the front as it is in the back and I also had the issue with osteolysis so 🤷🏻‍♂️. But it seems like the more I run and put pressure on the bone the less pain there is the next week I exercise.

Not sure what the end result will be as it still seems to be evolving. But just wondering if anyone else had this experience as well. Guess my situation is kind of rare since I had the infection and osteolysis so 🤷🏻‍♂️ Guess I will just keep running and exercising and see what happens.
