However, be prepared to accept the fact that if worst comes to worst you might not be able to run again.

The general rule of thumb among LL Doctors is 1 to 2 months for every cm you lengthen, with average of 1.5 month a likely scenario.   So if you did 5cm, it means 7.5 months before you can remove the external device.  If there are complications or slow consolidation, it might be additional 2-3 months.

Your soft tissue may take up to 2 years to recover, so running is a slow process.  It depend also on individual recovery, diet and exercises.
2 years from the operation right?

My doctor told me that even after i remove the frames i would have to wait about 1 year or 2 years after surgery date until the bones are hard enough to do sports without increased risk of fracture, so the bones are not completely hard until then..

Well when he told me he hadnt even looked at my x-rays, so it seems like a average time table for anyone who does LL around 4 or 5 cm, not specific to my own x-rays. Its probably likely that this time to wait can be reduced by being active and getting lots of the necessary nutrients.

You sir are brave, getting a motorcycle is actually one of the few things in my to do list once I get a little taller  ::)
But I'd probably wait more than just a few months after removal, simply not brave enough  :(
