Paley - how much cash to be safe?
« on: April 18, 2021, 06:26:40 PM »

Hey all,

In terms of finances, how much do you think I have to put aside so I don't have to worry about money should I go to Paley? It says the surgery is $95 large plus I figure it will be 25 grand for four months accommodation, flights from London and other expenses while I am there. So my calculation is $120k without nail removal.

Now what if complications happen? Financially, what is the worst case scenario? Does anyone know?

I had complication that took 10k usd extra

I would take 3 months accommodation at 1k usd a month 1k for food and I initially started with nurse which was 2k usd a month but then moved to care taker for 1k a month

So I’d say keep 3k a month for extra expenses over and above surgery and complications.

Hope this helps. Besides that odds and ends for medicines about 1k usd

Best of luck for surgery

Thanks @Ahd1978, I hope you have managed to fix whatever it is that went wrong

So it sounds like my calculation is not too far off, perhaps I will have to add 10-20k. That would be $140k + nail removal, quite a chunk of money, but it sounds like Paley is worth it? Has anyone ever heard of a negative long term outcome at his hospital?

Hi there

Mine was fat embolism but minor scare and it was handled well as you can see I am alive.

But yeah can be scary for some. But I would say I wasn’t healthy when I went for surgery too much alcohol before

So I would suggest be hydrated and flexible in stretching.

I am sure many years ago paley also had issues but the experience he has gained over years tops off from other surgeons.

However I must warn you don’t expect him to follow up on after care. He does surgery and then you are in hands of his local teAm.

That’s how it is.

That was only thing that bothers me as paying so much I would expect him to follow too

But CLL is not his main but rather severe cases that he handles for many deformities and all.

I did my surgery in poland at his institute and another guy now is doing surgery with his main doc here under paley for 60k usd as opposed to 90 k.

Hope this helps

Hi, do you know if the main doctor pays some kind of royalties to Paley for his own cases? (I mean the 60k ones)

Well paley is co owner of the poland institute

It’s just what option of experience you are opting for.

It’s like 5 or 7 series both are bmw

Lol don’t know if that helps

Where are you based ?
