Did the NHS start allowing Precice?
« on: March 08, 2021, 06:48:41 AM »

I heard that Nuvasive has allowed use of Precice worldwide. I am Indian and confirmed with Dr Parihar that Precice is available in India.

But is safety still something to be concerned about? Since it was NHS which first raised alarm, I am wondering if they have still disallowed the use of Precice in the UK.

The story seems quite sketchy to be honest, with Nuvasive first withdrawing all nails including Precice and then allowing Precice because it has a good 10 year track record. Why did they withdraw it in the first place then?

I think its more of an issue with the stainless steel products (i.e stryde) whereas precise is made of titanium and doesn't have the same safety concerns that stryde has at this point in time. Not sure about the UK but I would imagine they would be resuming surgeries with precise in due time as precise is now being used again worldwide.

I don't think the NHS cares about Nuvasive's take on the matter. If NHS discontinued Precice from their public health programme for millions of their citizens then it's something we should pay attention to. If NHS is using it then it gives me faith in Precice.

Precice 2.2 is still being used. Precice Stryde is what was recalled.

If... the NHS, finds other problems with both Nails... It will cause a massive ripple affect... leading to Multi Million Dollar Lawsuits... against the Manufacturer. The FDA.. and the Manufacturer did not really check all safety concerns... Other countries in the European Union.. are doubting just like England...

I heard it will probably take June/July until NHS allows Precice rods again. So, currently NHS does NOT allow Precice.

Stryde is quite uncertain, some sources stating it will be back in September and some stating it will be back only next year.

i would guess no limb lengthenin is taking place currently on the nhs without the precice or stryde?

I'm not sure the stryde was used much on the nhs either, mostly precice
