Hand pain instead of leg strength is limiting my walker usage
« on: September 29, 2022, 05:22:50 AM »

Anything can be done? I imagine gloves are not worth it

I dunno what's good https://www.amazon.de/s?k=padded+gloves+grip&crid=A9PTK2F9WGHL&sprefix=padded+gloves+grip%2Caps%2C116&ref=nb_sb_noss

There's losing weight of course, that should help

Had the same thing in the beginning with crutches. Your skin will adapt at your palm after a while (similar to when rock climbing). You can use gloves but I wouldn‘t recommend it tbh

Can't remember who suggested gloves to me, but I had a similar pair to your linked pair. Good padding but still decent dexterity in gloves was what I looked for. Also very good grip is key. Rubbery beats cloth. I found several that worked well enough. For me it was more for using my wheelchair than walker. But I basically wore them all the time except sleeping, eating, swimming or water exercising, contacts, brushing teeth, etc. I went thru a pair every 1-2 months. Seemed like other patients did fine without any, but I thought using gloves worked great and it was a no brainer. I recommend gloves and can't imagine LL without them. I was the heaviest person at WPB back during my LL so maybe others didn't need as much. Good luck.
