Tibia
« on: March 13, 2021, 06:46:58 PM »

Hey.  Following the removal of stryde.  I decided to do a tibia.  I aim for 6-7 cm.  I wanted to get advice on the most recommended method and doctor.  I realized that tibia requires two surgeries.  I would love an explanation for that.  Thank you all

Tibia doesn't require any more surgeries than femur.

My philosophy is that if you have the time, you should limit invasiveness as much as you can, by going for a fully external device.  The full-circle Ilizarov frame is more stable than a half-circle Ilizarov frame, which is in turn more stable than a monorail.

Skill is highly correlated with price.  I think you should go to the most expensive doctor you can afford.

6-7cm on tibia is a lot.  I think most doctors in the west don't want to go beyond 5cm.

It varies.  Asians typically have slower bone growth so the Beijing patients were told to start with 2/3 mm per day, including me.  Others will start you with 1 mm.  If you have fast or slow bone growth your rate can be adjusted.

The down time depends on how much you lengthen.  I got calf hypertrophy and saw several "graduates" from the hospital coming back with it, but I don't know how common it is.

thank you for the answer.  Would it be excessive in your opinion to go for 7 cm?  I'm 25. And I'm a professional football player.  I am very flexible!  I think I can handle it
