Recovery time external in both segments?
« on: March 12, 2021, 04:51:44 PM »

Hello everybody, I am thinking about doing external (LON or LATN) soon as internal is very expensive everywhere.
My goal would 7-8 cm in total for tibia and femur (es.3cm on tibia and 4cm on femur). Starting height 164/165cm Sitting height 87/88cm.
The total lengthening would be modest, as I don't like too much slender's proportions, I have short arms and I am interested in athletic recovery. And honestly, I don't care so much about being tall but being discriminated is not pleasant and is real obstacle for my life.
On this range, at my age (20s) and physical level (well trained)  I have read that almost all doctor agree that this is really safe range also for athletic recovery.

However I am concerned about the recovery time. I looked on many sites but I didn't find any precise information sometimes the indications differ more than 2x about it.
I would like to know when I will be able to walk with crutches, without them and when it would be able allowed to carry weight, jump etc...

Thank you in advance guys, and as
this forum is a really precious source of information thank you for the past answers.

Hello,

Not to be a downer but your plan is anything but safe and smart. The pain of waiting/saving for this procedure is hell but the recovery time you would be looking at would probably be a very long time. I think femur external is an awful decision but if thats your route then I understand. Just wouldn't be pretty

External femurs is really bad.  I know two people who had it done and they both said they were in agony.  One of them was going to do staggered surgeries (first one femur, then two weeks later the other) but decided to get the second leg done internally it was so bad.

The reason you can't find a consistent answer is because it depends on a lot of factors.
